I was having problems with my Samsung TV, so my wife gave me the number to "Samsung Tech Support". Went through the basic questions about my TV and eventually the person said I needed to contact the service center for Samsung repair because I had a hardware issue. As a measure of good faith for my hassle, they were going to give me a $100 gift card .... great! So then they went through all of the details about the card and told me it would cost me only $9.95 to process the gift card online. I started to become skeptical, but I went forward because I figured Samsung wouldn't screw me, right? So after I gave my CC info the the lady asked me for the third time. Is your first name spelled ..... that is when I knew I was just scammed. They wanted my voice recorded saying "yes" so that they could say I ordered whatever scam they were selling. I am a shipping manager and frequently receive the cold call asking "do you use tape?", knowing to immediately hang up the phone otherwise a pallet of tape will show up at my dock the next day. So after I realized I was a moron, I checked the website my wife found the phone number at ( ) and realized it is a phony Samsung site that comes up on google as the number on search. I told the lady to cancel the gift card because I did not want it she kept telling my over and over. I'm sorry sir, it's already gone through .... it's ok. I asked for a supervisor who then just read me the same script. I hung up and called my CC company to cancel my card and dispute the transaction. What I don't understand is how this company can be obviously criminal, and continue to get away with it. They even have a A rating on the BBB website!!!! Imagine if I walked down the street pretending to be a police officer and handing out fake tickets to people. I gurantee I would be spending some time in jail ... so how is this any different?
