SafeCart Speedy PC SCAM ALERT: SpeedyPC Misrepresentation, Fraud Internet, Internet
23rd of Dec, 2011 by User593067
I was having problems with my computer, which has been slow of late. Performed all basic procedures, deleting files, etc. Microsoft "Help" directed me to speedyPC as a "Certified" partner. I ran the test, trusting Microsoft. I was informed I had 914 problems with my computer. I requested "fix" only to be prompted for $29.95. I purchased the product, only to find out that I was buying ANOTHER program for $9.95 about which I knew nothing. My account was already charged. To activate software I had to call an 800 number, which set off an alarm. The party on the other end then went into my computer and started telling me a bunch of nonsense about the control panels he was bringing up, such as my processor utilization being way too low even though nothing was being processed, that ALL my programs should be running, which I immediately pointed out would crash the system. I finally screamed at the man to stop and just activate the software, which, as I then witnessed, I could have activated myself, so the number was just another lie to drag people in to getting charged for more services. I then found out that I had not only been charged, but that I had been SUBSCRIBED for the same costs annually. When I ran the software, there was only ONE system problem, previously represented as "Critical" with DOZENS of problems listed, NO performance problems, and 139 "junk" problems that turned out to be the SAME 340 megs that I had sent to the trash bin earlier. I immediately called PayPal, filed a fraud complaint, and cancelled the subscription. As suspected, running the software had no impact on my system performance or speed whatsoever ( I had already checked it before and after). I intend to file this complaint with Microsoft and every forum I can, including any relevant Attorneys General. I invite ANY competent attorney to take this to class action against both Microsoft and SpeedyPC.

The only difference was that I immediatly called their bolling dept and had the $9.95 credited back, upon further investigation, I realized I was scamed. I am abou to call my credit card company.

Hmmmm! I think I just fell in hook, line and sinker. I paid the $29.95 and like User593067, was given a safecart profile to pay a recurring fee. You really need to carefully read the purchase confirmation email. Mine came with two activation keys; one of which was to activate software that I did NOT agree to purchase.
When I ran the software it damaged the driver for my PC keyboard. I had to go back to HP and get a new driver to restore full functionality to the keyboard. I also noticed that after the restart, Norton Internet Security failed to start!
Both of these phenomena are "undocumented features" which I believe warrant an entitlement to a full refund of my $29.95
