RingTraining.com Tyler Hass Bait and Switch Internet |

On September 6, 2011, I placed an order for EFX Rings from RingTraining.com, which I believe to be owned by Power Athletes, LLC and Tyler Hass. The photos and product descriptions made multiple references to "3-in-1 Multitextured Rings," "three distinct gripping surfaces," and "The non-slip rubberized finish" which "is perfect for learning the Muscle-Up." I have screen caps. Upon placing my order, I was given a link where I could download the "Ring Training for Elite Fitness" book to review until I received my new rings. This book also makes mention of "The rough and rubberized non-slip portions" which "are ideal for holding onto the rings with a false grip." On September 13, 2011, the rings arrived. They were not as pictured or described on the website. There were not 3 textures, three distinct gripping surfaces, or a non-slip rubberized finish. These were not the rings I had ordered. I wrote to Tyler to let him know that these were not the rings I had ordered. I assumed I had been sent the Elite Rings by mistake. Tyler responded that they are no longer putting the rubberized section on the EXF rings. He told me I could apply athletic tape, tennis overgrips, or hockey tape to the rings to get a similar effect. Around this time, it appears that the website was scrubbed of most of the references to 3-in-1 multitextured rings, three distinct gripping surfaces, and non-slip rubberized finish. Luckily for me, I made screencaps before placing my order. I responded that I wish I had known, when placing my order, that it was being represented that the rings I would be receiving did not match the description or photos on the site in any way. I pointed out that he still had references to the rubber grips on his site. Tyler responded that "I have removed all of the references from the product pages and they now list 'dual textured' rings. I am going to be updating the main product photos very soon. We had a photoshoot scheduled last week, but we were hit with a major power outage right before it started." He went on say that the rings were modified based on customer feedback, but made no apologies for misrepresenting what he is selling on his website. I pointed out that he still had not removed all references to the rubberized surface from his website, and that the "Gym Ring Comparison Chart" on the main page still listed this surface. Tyler thanked me for pointing out that he was continuing to misrepresent what he is selling, and told me that he would "go over everything more carefully tonight and make corrections where necessary." As of September 18, 2011 these changes have still not been made. The Comparison Chart still makes reference to the rubberized grips, all of the photos on the website show the rubberized grips, and Tyler continues to sell merchandise despite these misrepresentations having been pointed out to him. |
