After a week of serious storms and hail, Mark Spanton of Peak Exteriors convinced us that he could get our insurance company to pay for a new roof and new siding from the damage. He provided "scripts" and a timeline of calls to make to our insurance company. We had our siding, roof and gutters replaced by Peak Exterior in the fall of 2004. Our insurance company paid for the roof and the siding and we paid for the upgrade to the roof and for the seamless gutters. A few months later, the siding started coming off the house. We called the office for several months and left numerous messages but never got a call returned. Then, in the spring we noticed our kitchen ceiling had water marks after a rainstorm. Again, we tried calling the office only to learn that the phone had been disconnected with no further information. We called the better business bureau and learned that they had a forwarding address in New Mexico. We called the better business bureau in New Mexico and they did not have any information for Peak Exteriors. Peak Exteriors was gone before the two-year limited warranty on the work expired! We recently learned from the secretary of the state that Peak Exteriors was filed as a registered trade name under RSJR inc which was filed as a form corporation. (That means they filed as an established business looking to do business in the state of Ohio.) Here's what is on file with the Secretary of the State in Ohio: RSJR inc., was filed as a form corporation in Ohio in June 3rd 2003. The paperwork indicates they were operating out of the state of Delaware as a business that was established April 12 2000. The certificate lists the home address in Beloit, Wisconsin. The paperwork was signed by Richard W Spanton, Jr. and it was notarized in Illinois. (Charter number 1392154) The charter was revoked in February of 2007 for not paying taxes!! Peak Exteriors was registered as a trade name under RSJR, inc. at the same time (06/03/2003)! The paperwork was also signed by Richard W Spanton, Jr. (Charter number 1392155) This charter was revoked in June of 2008. Mastercraft Exteriors of Ohio filed as a domestic corporation in May 2008. Richard W Spanton, Jr. is listed as the president and signed all of the paperwork work. As of June 2011, the company is ACTIVE. (Charter number 1769366) All three charters in Ohio are signed by Richard W Spanton Jr. which leads me to believe that the Spanton Family and Mastercraft Exteriors should be held accountable for the work they do under the various companies they start up and shut down shortly thereafter. If a new roofing company shows up soliciting your business, I recommend that you do your homework because the warranty does you no good if the company splits town.

THEIR OWN COMMUNITY HATES THEM

Well here is my insight to your little problem with Mastercraft Exteriors. I am not surprised at all because Mr. Matt Spanton has made a living in his own community by ripping people off or not paying his debts.

Sure the company is part of the BBB, any idea of how they became part of that? They paid money just like anyone else. So as long as they put their check in the mail they'll always be known as a BBB company. Seems odd that to become a member of an organization of quality businesses you can do all the shady practices you would like but you just need to send them a check & your in.

I'm curious to know if the BBB would want a company attached to them that has a history of submittting invoices to the insurance companies for work that was never done to drive up the profits. How about the fact that the company now owns Acculynx. Which is a company for construction companies to put in information about leads, bids to customers, etc. Putting all of that information into the hands of a competitor to come in & already have a leg up on the competition, since they know what his bid just was.

The company itself is your typical storming company just travelling around & taking advantage of home owners. Matt Spanton has made a pretty good living off of riding his brothers coat tail & using all his resources to screw people over in the process. So if you are thinking of doing business with Mastercraft Exteriors, Storm Solutions, or whatever company they will be in a few years, then you better hire an attorney on day one. It is almost inevitable that some sort of shady practice will be involved.

Also don't believe all the good things that CRAY Ink's says about them because that's the owner's wife. Kind of sad that you have to put out fake positive reviews or press because noone will go on the line for you to say that you are a good or legitimate company.

Matt Spanton has nothing to do with his brothers shady past. Few people really know the history but I worked for Matt for years and the only reason Mastercraft succeeded was because of him. The talk of the storm world was after his brother got caught laundering money from the company, Matt called him out and was fired beyond closed doors then all of the guys who stood with him were fired and not paid. The only people riding coat tails are the losers left there working off what the guys fired built. I would never work for DICK Spanton as hes known and if you want to see what people think ask all the guys who built businesses from what Matt trained them on..Im one of them and its funny to watch that Mastercraft Ship sink now. Whoever wrote the thing above was right on a couple things but defaming Matt isnt one of them. Everyone knew he was the lifeblood of Mastercrap
