rent a center

Rent a Center HELP they lost our contract and say I owe more then agreeed Prescott, Arizona

i rented a washer/dryer set from rent a center. when they delivered the set they stated they didnt have a copy to leave with me. i requested the copy from the store several times. we eventually moved and requested a copy again. prior to moving the set was to be discounted as it had to be fixed and the set they delivered was used not new. also they had informed my they had to do several repairs on this peticular brand/ style and were no longer going to carry it. i expected to get a copy of the contract when we moved as had requested it several times from both stores to make sure the credit was finally applied.
i have paid on the set for aprox a year when i called for the pay off. i didnt agree with the amount but gave my credit card anyway and again requested a copy of the contract. Now several months later they say I owe on it more.... They have tried to pick it up and cant produce the contract. they threaten to bring the police with them but they have no contract or amount they figure i owe. does anyone have any advise? do i have to give it over after a year of payments and payoff? they tell me they cant work this out unless they are in posession of the washer and dryer...
