Relo Van Lines Infinity Movers fraud moving company unprofessional rude Newark, New Jersey |
12th of Mar, 2013 by User654984 |
My husband and I hired Relo Van Lines when relocating from Long Island to Pennsylvania and it was the worst mistake we could have ever made. The experience was absolutely horrific. Our estimate was predicated on every item that was to be packaged and moved. The pickup was late; the movers came on a Sunday, and then demanded cash and a 15% tip, more than once (to my husband and myself.). In addition, I was coerced into filling out a survey of the satisfaction of services, which I had to complete before they would leave our property. Furthermore, one of the movers watched over my shoulder as I did this, and I foolishly gave into their bullying, giving a good review without the services being completed. Before we left NY, everything was clearly labeled as to what was to be packed and what wasn't. My husband Anthony was also there in case there were any questions or confusion. However, they never asked any. Theyneglected to pack up the bathroom, bookcases were left in place of opened food containers, and this, therefore, caused us to have an ant problem within a day of delivery. It’s been almost a month now, and we still have not found many of our own belongings, including some heirlooms from my mother and father who both passed last year which are not only priceless, but irreplaceable. It took six days for our belongings to arrive. The truck they used was apparently overfilled, and we were then told that our new total was now approximately $1500.00 more, due to the weight of the truck. In addition, while throwing boxes willy nilly around the house, my husband and I noticed that several boxes they were unloading’ belonged to another couple, which we had to make them put back on the truck. This made us question the validity of the actual weight of our items. Needless to say, we were not happy. Furthermore, the inventory sheets we received were vague at best, so it was and still is nearly impossible to properly organize our unpacking. Since then, we have noticed that several of our items (antiques, collectibles, our computer screen and printer, hand signed books, bookcases, etc) were either merely thrown in boxes, or broken, and nothing was bubble wrapped or secured properly. All that was around some of our items was plain paper. Even the few items they did bubble wrap, were not done correctly and arrived broken. I tried to phone Relo Van Lines to express my situation and dissatisfaction, but the phone either rang incessantly or I was given a 'recording'. Relocating and moving in and of itself is hard enough, but the experience we had made it several times worse. I wish I would have checked them out more thoroughly, though they do work under the aegis of Infinity Movers and American Van Lines. Once I read of others horror stories with this company online, I truly understood the magnitude of their unprofessionalism, fraudulent practices, and bullying tactics. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy.
