Date of Transaction - 7/15/11 - Moving from Costa Mesa/Newport Beach, Ca to West Linn, Or. Original Quote for my one bedroom apt and my moms items in Newport Beach at her one bedroom apt was $2075.00. Was ensured that no extra or hidden costs would be associated and it was stated on my original quote. Movers were scheduled to arrive at 12pm 3pm on Friday July 15, 2011. They didnt arrive until 4:00 pm and I had to call in to see where they were instead of dispatch calling me. The movers pulled up in a Budget Rental truck instead of a company truck couldnt provide me with a business card or proof of insurance but had a shirt with the company name and # on it and plenty of moving materials that we were charged extra for. All of my items were packed and ready to move onto the truck and they took it upon themselves to repack and tape everything a dozen times knowing that they were going to be charging me $4.50/ea roll of tape. Come to find out there was already a load on the truck that supposedly weighed 7000 lbs per Boris, the head mover. My items were loaded on to the truck and we headed to our next destination (my moms apt in Newport Beach). As soon as they showed up they instantly stated how they are not going to have room for all of my moms items that we were originally quoted for and that we had well over 8000 lbs between the two of our apts combined. They were unable to provide me with proof of weight for my items which he stated to be over 4000 lbs alone. Theres no way that I even have 4000 lbs of items in the first place. The heaviest item I brought was my fridge. After assessing my moms items the movers informed us that not everything was going to fit due to no more room and my mom was forced to leave half of her items behind that was included in the original quote. My mother wasnt bringing any furniture at all and only had a small freezer, her queen bed (in which they BROKE) and boxes to be loaded. After loading all of the furniture on the truck we were told that we had over 7000 lbs with no proof of weighing and were informed that we would be called Mon or Tues with the exact weight. It's now Wednesday and Ryan the Office Manager is stating that they will not deliver my items unless I pay an additional $2441 in which I already shelled out $1515.35 which was 60% up front. Since I refused to pay the additional amounts because they have not supplied me with any proof of my items weight, they have stated that they do not want to do business with me and will move my belongings to the edge of the curb and I have to figure out how to get my items here to West Linn, Or from N. Hollywood. When I asked for my money back since theyve decided not to deliver my items I was told that the $1515.35 that I paid was for the movers labor, the budget rental truck costs and moving my items from Costa Mesa/Newport Beach, Ca to their N. Hollywood storage facility.
I would like my items delivered for the balance of the original estimate of $2075.00 which is $559.35 or a refund of the $1515.35 that Ryan from Reliable Low Cost Moving said will not be returned as it covers his overhead costs. ??? I dont have anymore money to hire another mover to bring me my belongings in West Linn, Or. This company has stolen my money and has completely devastated this move. |
