relax inn broken window while away fort wayne, Indiana

We have been here going on 2 years & never had a problem-& would like to continue but eariler this year while we were gone-all day late into night a window was busted
there are 4 pieces of glass to each window-about 2x5 it was not broke when we left yet when I dropped husband off -10:30pm there was a big creak on inside glass
1 weekend a day a month we shop for the month & nothing was said until circle of glass fell on floor not inside between glass -as it would had we done it -but fell outside of glass on floor
right away all heck broke out & they would not listen to us at all
first they wanted $500 & 2 pieces of glass & what was friendly now has become stressed
there was a fellow vet staying with us - he didn't eat or anything here just sleeped here but he carried heavy things for me & stayed with my husband so I could get away once in a while he wasn't around for a week when this happened but he was accused of it & we almost got kicked out after a awful scene so no longer is friend allowed here
I tried to explan but they wouldn't listen & so now they want $250 most of us live on fixed incomes & there are broken windows all over the place & they can't say they didn't see the huge crack while we were gone all day
husbands friend was never there alone & we'd like to stay here because they have always been so nice & I just can't handle moving again until we get a place of our own & now I have to make a car payment as VA won't treat my husband if I can't get him to the

please we like it here & we don't want any trouble but we didn't break it we don't know how or when it happened -except people slam doors extremely hard & most people are in & out but we didn't do this & I can't afford to pay for things someone else did I just don't have it -if we'd done it I would've gone to & told them & worked something out but up to a few weeks ago there was no talking to them -& he came to show me that he 'd gotten the glass for the window
please he wants $50 extra a month
