Quality Resorts of America (QRA) Scammed out of Lifetime membership Internet |
1st of May, 2011 by User720695 |
I, like the other two posts regarding Quality Resorts of America, was taken for money and left holding nothing. I just stayed at the Lighthouse Marina location this past weekend and was told that they will no longer honor QRA members, as QRA is no longer. It took me by surprise, and as I questioned the folks there, found out that QRA sold off the three individual campgrounds years ago. My membership was originally based in River Grove in Felton, CA. When offered the opportunity to not have to pay annual dues by taking advantage of a "one-time" lifetime dues payment to never have to pay annual dues again. Never was I notified that Mr. Brindle sold the properties, nor did I know the subsequent owners went bankrupt, and now I find out that the Lighthouse Marina Resort is the only one remaining. I want to be part of any class action suit, and I want to pursue whether any subsequent owners need to honor the once paid lifetime memberships which were not cheap. Do the obligations of lifetime members not get listed as a liability and subsequent market value negotiated with this in mind? How do I pursue 1) getting retribution from Mr. Brindle, owner that was rewarded with my lifetime dues and 2) getting my membership honored by remaining resort? Please help if you have any ideas. Thank you. Rick |

My husband and I "join the crowd". There must be something we all can do to "bring these corrupt people down. |

I too was a victim of this camping scam and find myself now unable to use it. |

I am also a lifetime member that was never notified of the change in ownership. I would also like to be a member of any class action suit. Gail Janssen (Haak) |

We purchased a membership at Lighthouse Resort Marina more than 20 years ago. We did receive notice they were no longer going to be part of QRA. We also informed them we wished to cancel membership after more than 20 years. We paid the purchase price. We have kept up with the dues. We are too old to use the membership - and their response is to pay three years worth of dues and we'll let you out of your contract. The pitch wasn't that we would have to PAY for a lifetime - it was that we could have it for a lifetime, and will it to three successive generations if we wanted to, as long as we maintained our membership. We don't WANT to maintain it. Now they say they are doing US a favor by only charging us for three years worth of dues to cancel the membership. Where's the quid pro quo? (something for something). We get no benefit out of those three years worth of dues! I think this is illegal - didn't Thousand Trails or someone get sued for trying to stick it to people like this? DON'T keep your membership with Lighthouse Marina!!! |

We were also scammed by QRA by paying for a lifetime membership (no more dues). We knew Lighthouse changed hands, but we were not notified that we lost our membership. I just called Redwood Trails, now called Stone Lagoon, and it is now a public RV park. The lady I talked to knew about the rip-off for the QRA members. She said we would get a small discount - $25.00 a night for a hook up now. So sad! I would love to be part of a class-action. I have all my paper work. I am going to yelp Lighthouse Marina right now!!! |

Add us to the list. We purchased our membership in April of 1984 and not one word of them leaving the business. |

I know the Brindles personally and they were never trying to rip anyone off. It was a family company with honest intentions. Back when you bought your memberships, RV's were all the rage but unfortunately for everyone, especially the owners of QRA, the demand took a dive and they did everything they could to maintain it, even going years without taking salaries!...all for the sake of it's members. Finally they came to the sad decision to sell. This is NOT a ruthless corporation. This was a family that tried it's best to keep up the legacy their grandfather created.
To the person who thinks they shouldn't have to pay dues anymore because they just don't "WANT" to, that is what is illegal. You should read and understand contracts before you sign them. You agreed to pay dues as long as you own it. Some people sell memberships like these through outside agencies. They are fully transferrable.
Maybe seek legal advice on exactly what someone has done wrong before publicly bashing them when all they did was sell a company they wish they didn't have to. |

We have 333 shares in a fancy looking stock certificate for Quality Resorts of America. How can I cash them in? |
