I tried to file a complaint on your website, but was unsuccessful. Hopefully this email will reach an actual person. Hello, my name is Christopher Marlin, and I have a complaint about a moving company called, Quality Move. Let me begin by saying I will try to be as unbiased as possible and only state the facts. I moved from Rochelle,IL to Phoenix, AZ. I hired a moving company called Quality Move out of Chicago. They quoted me $1922.15 to move my belonging to Arizona. Once they loaded the truck I was given a bill for $3725.49. As I was on a time crunch due to a new job, I was forced to pay them $2000.00 up front and try to come up with the difference somehow. They then charged me $300.00 a month for storage because they said they were storing it in a climate controlled facility that had to have access to trucks to be able to back up to a loading dock. That wasn’t true. They stored it in a 10’ x 20’ self storage unit in Phoenix, AZ. The unit itself was only $152.00 a month and was NOT climate controlled. They charged me a redelivery fee of $1000.00 because they said they couldn’t deliver my belongings and said they returned them to Chicago in August of 2010, when in actuality; they stored them in a facility in Arizona on July 13, 2010. Due to financial hardship and hidden costs and over-charging, I couldn’t afford to have my things delivered until March 01, 2011. When I was able to have my property delivered, I had to go to the storage facility myself and help the movers. This is where I saw the mishandling of my personal property. The key to the unit was placed under the door for easy access instead of in a secure location. My washing machine was placed upside-down on top of my dryer which damaged the washer causing it to leak out all the oil in the motor, my guitar was placed under a dresser, my $10,000.00 worth of comic books in boxes were under a dresser, dishes and pictures were broken, and mattresses and couch were covered in dirt. I attempted to sell some of my personal items, but was unable to due to damages to multiple items to include: a washing machine (turned upside-down leaking out the oil from the motor and damaging the timer /dial), toaster oven (with broken support legs), electric medical muscle stimulator (doesn't work at all). This is from their website: Our Warehouse Quality Move Co. offers storage in our state of the art facility located in Chicago, Illinois. This is a copy I wrote to Quality Move: George, Please find attached a letter that I filed with Ripoff Report. I am offering you the opportunity to make this right. I do not want a full refund, just a refund of what you overcharged me. If you are willing to work with me, I will update my filing with a positive report reflecting your good business practices and I will convey your eagerness to satisfy a complaint and make things right. My calculations show that you overcharged me by: $1000.00 Redelivery Fee (For redelivery, but you never left the storage with it until March, 2011.) $888.00 Storage Fee (You charged me $300.00/mo for climate controlled and the cost was only $152.00/mo for not climate controlled.) $1038.85 The difference in what you quoted me and what you charge.me Total - $2926.85 If we are unable to come to an agreement, I will also file this same report with the Better Business Bureau. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. Christopher
