Provident Moving Worst Movers Ever , Internet |

Please stay away from this company. No one usually raves about moving or their movers because moving is a stressful time. one can only hope that if you pay for movers it will go as smoothly as possible. if that is your hope than do NOT use provident. when they come to look at your house for the estimate and do a walk through they low ball everything. the estimate i received was 800 dollars less than what my move actually cost. and on the day of the move they said, oh yeah we are not accepting credit cards either so you'll have to get a certified check, money order or cash...on a saturday at noon. this was after they showed up an hour later then they were supposed to. not a good start. so in the snow i'm driving around looking for a bank branch to be open to give me such a check (oh and don't forget to get a few hundred extra just in case for incidentals they said--yeah just a few hundred more) i get back to the house and the foreman informs me that not everything is fitting on the truck. WHAT, WHAT?? how is it that you give me an estimate after PHYSICALLY LOOKING at everything i own and then tell me its not going to fit? Foreman's response, i don't know but this is the biggest moving truck there is, only a tractor trailer could fit everything you own. well shouldn't the owner who gave the estimate know that - uh yeah but what do we do now. i suggested getting another truck out here, he said that wasn't possible, this is the crew they had. i suggested setting up another time the following day, he said you'll have to talk to the owner but it'll cost you another move and new contract. yes, they couldn't live up to their estimate and i would have to pay again. so i spoke to the owner, who basically ended up calling me a liar on the phone and told me there was nothing he could do. and if i wanted the truck unloaded with my stuff at either house that i would have to pay them first - it's in the contract. i was livid, furious, but i wanted to move so i just let them proceed with the move. by the time the 12 HOUR move concluded (there was a 3 hour commute to the new house) i was so ready to be done with the crew and this company. a few "fine" points. the foreman was HIGH as a KITE and went out to his truck twice to smoke pot, plus the additional "lunch break" they put so many scratches and marks on my new walls i wanted to scream and they broke 2 pieces of furniture which i didn't catch until days later because they put it together and "rigged" it into place. this was the worst company EVER. save your money, save your stuff and save your sanity. |
