Promontory Point Apts Milestone Management RIPOFF AFTER MOVE-IN Austin, Texas |
7th of Jan, 2011 by User517552 |
I moved over 150mi w/only a few days to find a place to live; found Promontory Point Apts due to rebate offer. Visited the property; as a single woman, liked the security drive thru and walk thru gates; you need a code or a key card to enter. The following issues are problematic (not just my issues but others I have spoken to over the past several months); Since moving in: 1) one of the driveway gates is always open/broken - NOT SECURE! 2) one of the walkthru gates is always open/broken - NOT SECURE! 3) Apt was to be completely cleaned; was NOT! I had to clean cupboards & appliances (grimy w/food)inside and out; it appeared they swept floors & vacuumed carpet; the roach problem was supposed to have been taken care of or lastleast exterminator out; wasn't done; took them & me 3mo to getrid of them4) There were 3 times I came home from work to find no water; the office staff stated each time the Austin Water Utilities was having a problem; however, calling the utility company, they stated the complex had problems with their pipes and had not been taking care of the problems; there was never any notice of shutting off the water, we just didn't have any; one night, there were people filling buckets & jugs with water from the pool to flush their toilets; that particular night, the water came on after 2am (the banging of pipes woke me up as the water came back on); my bldg was one they dug large trenches around to replace pipes and it caused cracks in corners, around patio doors & windows; I took pictures & let the rental office no but no one called or asked about them5) I applied for a rebate through an apt search company who invoiced PPt and I was told the rebate company is waiting on PPt mgmt but PPt has stated it's chgd mgmt companies several times and it's not a priority 6) I started off with a certain amt to pay $499/mo + $3.10 my prorated portion of trash & water (for a studio apt) = $502.10; 2 new mgmt companies later, they have chosen to use a billing service AND increase my trash/water (stating I wasn't paying the correct amt per my lease so now - $499/mo + $7.81/water&trash + $3.10/service fee + $3.00/bill processing fee = $512.91/mo.; I asked why the residents were having to pay the $6.10 fees for something we didn't have a choice on; we didn't choose to go through a billing service but we're paying for the billing service!? (now I saw they are advertising studio = $619/mo - WOW!) - In talking to other residents, their issues are: 1) requesting dishwasher to be fixed and it took 4mo and quite a few calls to the rental office 2) Complained about very noisy neighbors; talked to the neighbors and it got worse; went to rental office and nothing happened; the problem still exists 6mo later & the neighbors act threatening to her when they see her 3) there are oversized dogs; one family has a pit mix and it's aggressive altho they keep it on a leash but they're afraid if it would take off after someone/kids playing. We're all waiting for our lease to come up BUT definitely feel we've said enough and don't want to create more problems for ourselves w/property mgmt. We've begun putting 'ratings' on the apartment complex rental boards.
