Prometheus HFT Jim Goldman Failure to get in contact, arbitary expenses, empty commitments St. Louis, Missouri
21st of Jun, 2011 by User949331
Mr. Jim Goldman utilizes Craigslist jobs under New York to attract traders claiming that his firm commits capital to traders and asks for a 50/50 split. Since most trading jobs on CL require upfront capital contribution, this seems like a good option. I have read some other experiences with Jim, but I will share mine. I was contacted by a man named Steve (no last name given) and had a brief phone interview. Steve claimed to be in an HR capacity. He later connected me with Mr. Goldman, but Mr. Goldman had to reschedule multiple times. Finally, Mr. Goldman got in touch with me and after several discussions I decided to pay the $500 he requested for the first month's trading platform. I had 4 thin and meaningless training sessions with him. I assumed he had a niche strategy, but really his 'strategy' could be googled under basics of technical trading. After we completed the training, he sent me an email stating that I should contact velocity traders to set up an account. I assumed Mr. Goldman had designated funds for us to use. I called velocity and the woman he referred me to said no 3rd party can set up an account. I said fine, but then she said I would have to put my own money in. This was contradictory to what my original agreement was. She said that other traders had this problem and the Mr. Goldman had only contacted her to act as a referral source. I tried calling Mr. Goldman multiple times and got his voice mail each call. I sent multiple emails and received no answer. I finally started internet searching for his physical address and found multiple posts from others regarding a scam. Thus, I opened a dispute on Paypal to get my $500 back. I have now found out most traders gave a $100 deposit, which leads me to believe Mr. Goldman gave me an arbitrary number to pay him. Be very, very careful if you encounter Mr. Goldman. At best, he is highly unprofessional and incompetent, at worst he is a con artist.
