My ex-boyfriend had some hospital bills that went to collections. He recieved a letter in the mail from Professional Credit Services in Eugene, OR. The letter had his name first, then also included my name. When he (the ex) finally let me know, the 30 days that you have to respond had lapsed. I called my credit monitoring company and they checked and confirmed that the bills were showing up on my credit report. I immediatly called our local hospital to find out if these were in fact NOT my bills (I am double covered). The hospital confirmed that the bills were in fact NOT mine and did belong to my ex. The billing rep. stated that when they sent the bills to collections, they did not put my name on the bills anywhere so if my name was attached it was something that the collection agency had done (which I suspected since they spelled my last name wrong). I wrote a letter to Professional Credit Services letting them know that i had contacted the origianl creditor and confirmed that these were not my bills and that per the advice of the attorney general if they did not correct the problem asap I was going to hire an atty and charge them with the legal fees. I also reported them to the BBB. As well as the letter, i sent an email to them and disputed the accounts with my credit monitoring company. It has not been quite 30 days since I took action but it has been about 25. To date i still have not had a response from Professional Credit Services and they have in fact reported another charge, also not mine, to the credit bearue and it has shown up on my credit report. I am beyond angry! I have worked really hard to fix my credit and was starting to finally achieve an okay score. Because there were 6 accounts that my ex had sent to collections they reported all six on my credit report. But heres the kicker, when we recievd the letter it listed all 6 charges on the same statement. However, when they reported them on my credit report they were all done individually and all about 2 wks apart. Because of this, my credit score has dropped 20+ points in one month. According to the attorney general my only recourse if they do nothing is to hire an atty and take them to court. I dont have the money to do that so now I am fighting with them to get this resolved and in the mean time my credit score suffers and my application on a rental home was denied. I have to move and am unable to do so without a co-signer because "I have so many items in collections that are all very recent" So, thats my story. I wish someone would get these guys! I look at their website and they talk about how good they are and caring I call bullsh*t! They SUCK! You would think that consumers who use this company would get a clue and realize just how badly they are treating clients. |
