Jeffery price- http://priceparalegals.com/index.html Price paralegal is SCAM! Jeffery price is the certified paralegal. I found him on Craglist (I guess that was my mistake). You will still see him advertising on craglist. I talked to Jeffery many times before i got my money for divorce. He called me and email me at three times a day if he can help me out for my divorce case. and that was before I paid him. I didn't need lawyer because my divorce is no-fault and we don't have any kids or assets. Jeffery was cost efficient compare to other real lawyers. I was not feel comfortable to just send him a money to his bank account so I went down to see him. It took me about 2 hours get there from where I live. He didn't have office. He works at home. He was nice and we talked for 30 min about things. He told me to bring a cash not a check or card so I brought my cash with me. It was $630. He gave me receipt and he said he will take care of everything ASAP. After that, he didn't call me for a week. then, I went to his website and his website went down. I sent him a 5 different e-mails and called million times and few days after surprisingly, he answered my phone one day. He said he is on vacation and his website was down for few weeks because he had some technical problems. Now, his website is back. And this person didn't do ANYTHING with my divorce. I am 23 years old woman. I just graduated from collage. He knows $630 is not easy money to me. I can't believe he did this to me.. very angry.. |

I have alerted authorities of this guy and he better hope I don't catch up to him. His Paralegal service is a fraud!!! People beware! |

There are plenty of attorneys now that offer affordable divorce paperwork preparation. Why pay an "paralegal" to do what an experienced attorney will often do for the same price. Just contact an attorney and tell them you want them to review your case or just prepare the documents and nothing more. In fact you can look at a few of the "divorce online" websites and more or them today are attorney operated websites. Also with an attorney they are required to be accountable and you can file complaints against them because they are licensed professionals. This is not the case with the paralegal or document preparation company. And best, an attorney can answer legal questions for you! They don't tell you, "sorry we only process documents and can't provide legal advice." Yes, I have divorced more than once and helped my friends with finding affordable divorce services online. Best wishes to you if you are reading this post. Life does go on after divorce! |

@Mrseattlerain
Actually, I have to strongly disagree with you as in terms of not hiring a "paralegal company" to do your divorce. My divorce was done by an excellent paralegal company in New York approx. (2) years ago that was very much affordable and which my sister located for me on the Internet.
I live in PA and my husband lives in New York (though I was the Plaintiff), therefore, my divorce was also handled by the paralegal company long distance (excellent service).
You fail to mention that there are (2) kinds of divroces, (1) is Uncontested Divorce and the other is Contested Divorce.
If you and your spouse does not agree with the terms for getting a divorce (which is called a Contested Divorce), then yes, you should seek competent legal advice from an attorney and not go to a paralegal services.
However, if you and your wife can agree to the terms for getting a divorce (which is called an Uncontested Divorce), then I recommend in using a reputable paralegal services.
If you hire an attorney, wouldn't you first check out the attorney to make sure the lawyer is a legitimate and competent lawyer prior retaining the lawyer's services. Hopefully you said Yes, and then you would apply this same process to a paralegal service as in terms of "checking out" that paralegal service to make sure there are no complaints (or minimal at least), even though that is not fair to say because a lawyer can receive complaints as well.
What you should do first is see if the paralegal service is a "legitimate business" registered with that state department, this way if things go wrong, you can file a complaint on that paralegal company and if needed, can sue that company in smalls claim court as well becuase that paralegal company is a registered business in that state.
Again, my divorce was done approx. 2 years ago, and from start to finish, I paid $299 (paralegal fee) and court fees ($335), plus a few extra dollars to cover the mailing fees to mail me the documents, and from start to finish my divorce papers were signed tin approx. 3 months by the Judge.
I could not have been more happier. If you're someone reading this, you got to do your homework regardless if you hire a lawyer or paraleagl. Make sure that the paralegal service you hire is a "legitimate" business.
Good Luck and think smart!!! |
