I arranged to have some possessions moved from Savannah, GA to Alabama on 12 March, 2011. My original quote for the complete service was $840 for 2000lbs. I told them that it was unlikely I would have 2000lbs and they told me that if it was less, I would be charged less, but it would be .60 per lb over the 2000 quoted. I asked if there were any other charges I should be notified of and no additional charges were disclosed. At the time I agreed to employ this company for my move, they Precision Van Lines stated that they would pick up my belongings between12pm and 2pm. They did not arrive till nearly 6:30pm. Upon entering my house, one of the two men began to tell me that he was going to charge me for packing materials such as tape ($4 per roll) for the mandatory blankets covering my furniture and boxes for my mattresses. When I informed him that no such charges were disclosed to me, he began to yell at me, telling me that I can complain to his company later. He gave me a bunch of paperwork to sign. I asked him to perform a visual estimate, since one of the documents asked me to waive this right. He refused and I did not sign this waiver. When I asked for a copy of the starting weight ticket, he became more angry and tossed it toward me. As they were packing, I noticed that they were using nearly one rollof tape per item of furniture and asked them to please go sparingly since I cannot afford much more than the quoted 840. When they ignored me and proceeded to tape a piece of trash into my shelves, I asked them to remove the trash before continuing any further. This infuriated the second man who began openly yelling at me. For the next two hours that my items were being moved, these men called me various names in Spanish, bi*h being the dominant one. Now fearful for my physical well-being, Iwas forced to ask a friend to come over and stay with me so that I was not alone with these men. When they were finished loading the truck, I asked for a copy of thepapers I signed. They refused to provide any copies stating that it wasagainst company policy. The second man who yelled at me asked to use my bathroom and I agreed. Once they left, I went to the bathroom only to find that this man had urinated on my seat. Originally, the delivery in Tuscaloosa was scheduled for 16 March 2011. I informed the movers that the recipient and the house were not going to be ready until this time. They arrived today, 14 March 2011. Asa result, I have to pay an additional two days rent and cover the costsincurred by my recipient and the landlord due to Precision Van Lines negligence and disregard for the agreed delivery time. The recipient called the company to complain about all that had transpired. When he threatened to go to the BBB, the company said that they could give him a $50 discount for his troubles. He explained that this was no where near enough, but would take it into account after speaking with me. I called the company to complain about everything that happened thus far and further discuss the issue of a discount. They told me that they had spoken with the recipient and were not interested in speaking to me. With regards to the two employees that harassed me, they said they did not believe me and that if I was so upset then I should file a police report. I advised them that I would take this to every available authority, including the BBB. When the movers arrived with the delivery, they informed my recipient that they would not unload the belongings until he signed a document stating that in return for the $50 discount he must not take any action against Precision Van Lines, not publish any documents against them. He said that he did not want to sign. They threatened him with placing the items in storage. Mr. Scarborough signed the document and asked for a copy. He was refused. Precision Van Lines also refused to provide a final weight slip. DO NOT do business with these people. They are undocumented and refuse to provide any customer service. Don't be fooled by the pleasant sounding native English speaker you first encounter since that will be the only time you encounter a friendly person. She will not help you afterward. Additionally, do not leave your female family members alone near these men. They are pretty shady individuals that have no qualms about mistreating women. |
