Port Aransas Weddings JoAnne Soward the Owner, agreed to take $500 as deposit for a beach wedding and then proceded to tell my fiance to make the call

We wanted a beach wedding in Port Aransas and Port Aransas Weddings was the first to come up with a Google search. We met with the owner, JoAnne Soward in November 2012, and made a contract for a small beach wedding in July 2013. She accepted $500 as a deposit stating she knew with that amount of deposit that we were serious. Here we are in March 2013 and she has done NOTHING regarding our wedding. I have called and emailed with little to no response and when she did email she told my fiance to contact a vendor himself and gave him the name and phone number! WE got our own beach permit.... WE contacted a vendor and arranged for a reception tent... at this point if we were doing all the work why were we going to pay her? I contacted her to cancel our contract 5 months before the wedding date. She refused to give us back our deposit stating that the contract clearly states if the wedding is canceled there are no refunds. We are not canceling the wedding, we had to make all the arrangements ourselves! She has since stopped returning our calls and will not respond to our emails. As of today she now has a disclaimer on her website FAQ stating that deposits are non-refundable, that was NOT there in Nov 2012.
