Phoenix Business Agents Ltd
7200 The Quorum, Oxford Business Park North, Cowley, Oxford, OX4 2JZ, UK.
www.phoenixbusinesssales.co.uk
Their registered office is:
Moreton House, 31 High Street, Buckingham, Bucks, MK18 1NU
Their Companies House Company No. is 06510456
Their business, according to their website, is "valuing and selling businesses." No real evidence of having success sold any businesses and a growing list of complaints.
From my own experience and that of others published online. Phoenix Business Agents Ltd will phone you after you've advertised your business on rightbiz or businessesforsale.com. Their salesman Peter Abbott visits you at home or place of business. He tells you about his company Phoenix Business Agent Ltd. How they can sell your business for a fee of £5000 + VAT, only payable on the successful sale of your business. There are no hidden charges, no fee or penalties before during or after your service and you can cancel after 6 months if dissatisfied with a valid reason, via recorded delivery.
I signed what I thought was a standard new client form and now looks like a contract designed to work against me. You think this service is in your benefit but it looks like it works in Phoenix's benefit. As they earn anything from £3000 - £8000, what turns out to be doing very little.
I received an email from an old Phoenix business agent client who was caught up in this scam with Phoenix, 5 years ago. She spotted the £3000 clause during the meeting with agent Zulf Hamid. He drew a line through the clause and initialed it. She cancelled her service with Phoenix after 6 months based on only one viewing, lack of communication and phoenix being unresponsive to emails and phone calls during the 6 months. She didn't receive a bill for £3000 as she noticed the clause but 5 Years later she received a bill for £8000 out of the blue, Phoenix say she sold her business during the 6 months through other means, leaving her in breach of contract. She received a letter threatening to make her bankrupt and a nasty email.
Peter Abbot does not explain anything in the contract, he just show's you the clause where you can cancel the service after 26 week via recorded delivery. He gets you to sign the form first and then cleverly asks you to initial certain areas of the contract after you've signed so your less likely to read the contract. He's won your trust and answered all your questions at the start of the meeting giving you no reason to doubt or questions anything he's said.
I've seen and read a lot of damaging reports on Phoenix and realize I've been scammed in a similar way. Looking at the form I signed, I noticed the "three thousand pound agreed charge" in lower case in words, no pound sign, no figures. Not what you expect to see in a contract of this kind when money is involved. When you sign any contract that involves money you expect to see the sum written in numbers and in words, When your writing out a cheque you use words and figures. Anything involving a fee or charge you expect figure and words. £3000 is a lot of money how do you forget to mention something as important as that when it's your job and you do the same job day in day out.
The new trick Phoenix business agent uses, they get you to initial the clause (£3000). While not telling you anything about it. When I called them about this "agreed three thousand pound charge" that I have not actually agreed to and was not told about by your Rep Peter Abbott. Phoenix say you initialed it indicating you understood the clause. They don't offer to help, offer solutions or offer you to walk away from the service as it was miss sold. This is what you'd expect with any respectable company who values customer service and its own company reputation.
Any respectable company for example Virgin, Amazon, Sky, Mobile phone services, Netflix, Tesco's, Bank & Building Society etc. All have a get out clause or a cooling off period allowing you to cancel the contract with out any obligation if dis satisfied. Phoenix Business Agents Ltd have no dedicated complaints procedure, customer service policies, refund or cancellation procedures. Phoenix has nothing set in place to help customers indicating how unprofessional and fraudulent there business practices are.
Even after confronting Phoenix about numerous complaints I've read online, dedicated Rip Of Britain report. They don't respond helpfully and do not offer to let you out of this service. What you would expect a respectable company to do who value customer service and customer care. I haven't paid any marketing fee's upfront but I am aware a lot business owners have.
The contract is so unfair toward Phoenix's victims, it contains lots of clauses in small print that work against you ever exiting there service. They want you to breach the contract in any way so they can send you an invoice for £3600 - £8000. If you try to exit the contract at any time, either before the initial period has ended or after that, you will receive an invoice for £3600. Once you've signed that piece of paper, if you try to exit at anytime you'll be invoiced for £3600.
If there is anyone who has dealt with Phoenix past or present please respond, I would love to hear about your outcome. So I can help myself and may be support other victims that have fallen for the Phoenix Business Agents Ltd scam.
!!!!!!! WARNING, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS !!!!!!!!! |
