Get this...I have a son who should have graduated back in June of 2012. He turned 18 in August of 2012. The Oregon Child Support has some so called laws which say that a child who is 18 years old and attending school is entitled to child support. What a big joke. My son has been fooling around since he has turned 18. He still has not finished one class in high school since he turned 18. The Oregon Child Support Division thinks that just because my son is enrolled in school that he is entitled to support. I am not sure what planet they are from but my son is getting all F's and has not completed any credits. The Oregon Child Support team has charged me Child Support. I am a responsible adult but this is really incredible that the Oregon Child Support could be so lame as to consider my son as a child attending school when he has not completed one class. They give me one excuse after the other about this or that but the bottom line is they keep charging me $816 a month for a child in school when he is not in school. I retired and moved to Maine. Do you think that they would reduce my child support since I have no income? You guessed it. The answer is no. I am waiting for my Social Security to kick in. I have really had it with the Oregon Child Support Division. I have written letters and have filed Grievance reports with them. They always come back with the standard answer. Just providing information and the Child Support keeps accruing. The rules are very clear that when a child is older than 18 then he must be attending school to receive Child Support. The Oregon Child Support Division has truly lost its mission and goals and the ability to be fair. Did you know that the Oregon Child Support Division has the power to garnish wages and to set child support amounts without a Court Hearing? Once the Oregon Child Support Divison turns on the wage garnishing then I would like to see anyone get a nickel back from them. I am a responsible tax paying adult and deserve to have a fair and honest system in place. They set the rules for Child Support but do not follow there own rules. They have no scruples or morality. They have lost the sight of the mission of providing for the children and now are involved in how to coat there own pockets with money. What can be done with the Oregon Child Support Division that has lost its leadership and mission? I would say to fire the whole bunch of them and to hire some individuals who are more interested in the people. Try calling the Oregon Child Support Division. Just try to talk to someone. It is very near impossible and then if you do then it is like trying to talk to someone from another planet. It goes something like this when you talk to the Oregon Child Support Division. " Hello this is ... and I would like to discuss a problem that I am having. I have no income and my son is not attending school but you keep charging me $816 a month. I am sorry about that.... You need to just buckle up and do your part. If you would not have retired early then you would still be working therefore we are going to continue to charge you as if you were working. ""Me....but....."Them...hold your buts for the billy goat. I am working for the State of Oregon and I know the law and what I say goes so you can just collect cans or whatever else is required to pay us. Paying us is the most important thing. Now keep in mind we can confiscate your passport, take your Social Security, take away your drivers license and fishing license and so you might as well just pay us. We take credit cards, and checks.... It is just like that when you try to work it out with the Oregon Child Support Division. They have no scruples and lack integrity and honesty. The workers in the Oregon Child Support Division believe they have no accountability and they set the rules and so you might as well just play by there rules. The bottom line is that the Oregon Child Support Division is a money collection agency like the IRS. They are really not interested in the paying parent other than is he paying. They could care less about whether or not he is obligated to pay or not. They are more interested in the collection of money. |
