Ocwen is our 3rd mortage company. We were in default. Our payment was 3300.00 a month. We did pay but fell behind about 4 months. We did pay about 15000.00 in 2010 and still they were going to forclose. We went to make 2 payments, 6600.00 and they were bounced back to us because they already started the forclosure so we got a lawyer and filed a chapter 9. We first put in for a mod and we faxed the papers with the lawyer and payed the mod payment of 2200.00. I called 2 days later and found out the said they didn't get the papers and they didn't put through the mod and our payment went to our negiative equity. We were soooo mad so out lawyer filed the chapter 9 bankruptcy. Boy did they change their tune!! Right after we filed they said they were doing an inhouse mod because we didn't qualify for the goverment one. The chapter 9 trustee was going to dismiss our case because our numbers didn't jive with what she wanted. (we had to rush to file so it wouldn't show up in the newspaper!) I called Ocewn and asked what was going on with the mod and they said it was approved. They dropped our pmt to 1200.00 a month, out rate is 2% fixed and they cut our princapal over 1/2!! we were at 352000.00 now its 183000.00!! The only thing is you have to call EVERY DAY!!!!!! If I didn't call when I did it would have not gone through. They mailed the contract to the wrong address, and wanted the 1st pmt with in 4 days of me calling!! The finally emailed me the contract I had my husband sign it and scaned it over to them. We sent the pmt Western Union. I have to say the people I delt with were great. Maybe because it was the bankruptcy dept and they know that the judges are very hard on the morgage companys now.The number they gave me to call, I never waited on hold,got right through. We dismissed our bankruptcy on our own. I am happy and my husbands and I's stress level had gone wayyyyy down. Our trial period is 3 payments. We have made 2 and when we make our 3rd it is then in stone! I recommened to everyone FILE CHAPER 9 if you can. We paid out lawyer 2000.00 and it was soooo worth it. I feel so bad for all the people on here who are losing their houses. We went through this with our 1st company we just mod and the payment went up!! This time we must of had a 4 leaf clover with us because we never have luck. I hope this helps someone :)
