I worked for octane coffee and cocktails from feburary 2011 till june 2011. I was a server bartender prepper chef dishwasher grocery shopper etc. In the beginning when i first met Marlene Welch she seemed to be a good person with a great restaurant i had walked in to inquire about employment. she told me she was short staffed that evening and would need help that evening and tocome in on a trial basis to see my par levels by five oclok that evening. I had no proper intrview or filled out anytype of application or given any resume or refrences. I returned there that evening and worked the evening she told me i was great and could go far in her business. I continued to work for her being paid on a daily basis under the table no paycheck no taxes taken out. After my trial period was over payments went from every day to once a week and then once a month during this time i was cross trained to prepare food and cook the entrees "tapas" for the restaurant. I then was trained to run the bar all self taught out of the book or word of mouth. over time payments stopped coming to me because there was no finances, bills to run the business were more important, groceries or alcohol or beer was needed, live bands had to be paid first and had to wait on credit card to drop to get payment. The tips were all divided each night to the owners chef and servers and dishwasher. I worked with the company trying to increase clientel for this issue to stop. Over my period of time there were several other problems from other persons not paid wanting their money or bounced checks that were wrote for payment . Over time i was given a key and created my own code for the alarm system. There were several days of opening and closing by myself nine times out of ten there was not a bank to start the day. there was a problem everyday with something or someone and everyone felt the raft or marlenes un- professionalism and non payment . The problems here are that there is no proper hiring or firing procedure no proper payment procedures no proper training procedures for new employees no proper opening and closing procedures groceries are bought at a grocery store like the kroger or food depot not a distrubitor most of the beer bottles and wine are bought from local grocery stores sometimes even the liquor is bought at a liquor store in peachtree city bills are never paid on a timely matter are almost always late the dining room or kitchen always are not set up properly or up to marlenes standards for the day or night there are never enough employees to have a shift change so i worked from nine am to some times four in the morning that evening and then reture on a daily basis without a day off and most of the tmes without abreak .They also run a second business out of the same location called A Better Ride and also cause problems for that clientell also. There are bill collectors calling on a daily basis and rejected because they have supposedly been paid off and are no longer owed anything. I am currently owed a total of 1165.00 dollars for hours worked tips grocerys out of my own pocket and tip outs that were not given according to paper work and tickets there is not an actual cash drawer or system to keep up the cash just a box for the tickets and cash all in the same place accessible to anyone in the place that works there. i could no longer pay my bills due because of this matter and had to move in to a friends place to seek help financially and am seeking anyone in the area to report her and her company also to see what can be done about this i am currently still owed this amount listed above and am seeking any advise on the matter to get this revolved as soon as possible i have asked others i know to report her or take action to get the word out about this business and any issues they have ahd with Marlene and octane.
