Oak Plantation Resort Oak Plantation Resort - scam Kissimmee, Florida |
2nd of Dec, 2011 by User622722 |
Once again, I feel I have been taken by Oak Plantation Resort in Kissimmee. I just received a letter in the mail stating I can no longer exchange my timeshare through RCI due to failure on the Oak Plantation Resort to maintain the required resort score with RCI. I can understand RCI's concerns. I got suckered into buying into this resort in 2009 when I was visiting on my honeymoon. I was shown a very nice unit at that time. However, when we returned, I was put in a unit that did not come close to comparing to what I was shown. The unit was worn down, the furniture in poor shape, the grounds not kept up, no room service. My latest trip this year (2011), was the worst ever. The unit was in horrible shape, when I stepped into the shower, I actually felt like the flooring underneath was going to give out, grounds were pathetic, no maintenance support and no room service staff to be found. It seems like there are more laws protecting these companies than there are to protect the public from being taken, like I and apparently others have been. Now that I own the unit, I can't seem to find a way out other than donating it. This is ridiculous that I have no recourse when this company obviously has not held up their end of the deal in keeping the facilities maintained yet continue to take my annual maintenance fees. If there are any class action law suits pending out there, I would love to know how to join in because this is not acceptable to allow these resorts to scam the public. |

I am also an owner and have NEVER stayed there and have always traded. Am I clear in understanding that if I were to try and trade with RCI after having paid RCI thru 2/17, I will not be able to get a thing for my weeks?????????Please respond. I am calling RCI in the morning. |

We are also owners at Oak Plantation and have been for over 10 years. When we have stayed there in the past, it wasn't top of the line accomodations, but it was clean and in good working order. The folks there were terrific. We received the letter from Oak Plantation telling us RCI was dropping them due to low ratings and we would be notified by RCI in December. The letter said if we had already deposited our week for 2012, it would be returned to us, which we just received notification today from RCI it was returned to us. The letter said they were in good standing with Interval International and we could sign up with them, but they hoped to get their standing with RCI back in the future. We have always dealt with RCI, even though I wasn't very happy with the recent changes to the weeks program, and I do not want to go to II because we are paid up in advance with RCI and we already have other deposits to exchange. I am not very happy about this but not sure what can be done. |

I am just writing to update you all on my research of Oak. MANY comments on RCI if googled, will report that it is disgusting and even a report of roaches.
I have paid it off from the beginning and have decided to let them have it back. Yes, I will lose 100 pts of my credit score but I have had it with dealing with them . I can still use the two weeks in the RCI bank and I am bailing. So much for the sales pitch I recieved so many years ago. Good luck to everyone. |
