NYX Professional Makeup, INC scam, false advertise, poor customer service Commerce, California |

NYX cosmetics advertised a 12 year anniversary sale to registered members through emails on their website for many weeks. The sale was taking place on Sunday, May 15, 2011. The sale was to include all of their single items (no sets or large items included) for a price of $1.20. I tried to participate in this sale (for near 24 hours) with absolutely no luck at all. The site was completly inaccessible for hours. First the server crashed and no one could get on the site. It was flooded due to the thousands of people looking to cash in on such an amazing offer. The company just told us to be patient and keep trying. Then the company pulled the website offline completely, without explaining why, when it would be back, and what had happened. Many people tried for hours and hours! and nothing! On media websites such as Twitter and Facebook, Nyx announced the plan to extend the sale to make up for the site crash and lost sale hours. But for me, even after over after 18 hours, I could access the page and log in, only to be kicked off again. As complaints flooded in the company rudely decided to blame the customers for the websites malfunction, not their own poor planning and lack of technical skill in their business. They also routinely told us to be patient, which I think we were. they gave us certain times the problems were to be fixed, only to be wrong several times. Customers were hung up on during phone conversatons or plainly not responded to through emails. Throughout Monday morning (May 16) starting at 7 am, I routinely tried to checkout, only to have the website kick me out after trying to get to my cart. I also heard that people were charged on their credit cards without their knowledge, and that members personal information have been compromised becuase of their website malfunctions, but NYX refuses to accept responsibility or to respond to our many complaints and questions pertaining these issues. They have chosen to ignore us and sweep their problems under the rug. Nyx Cosmetics later offered a 50% off coupon but that doesn't compare to the hours wasted and the lack of compassion or customer service showed to frustrated and loyal clients during the hours we waited patiently for the website to go back online. Ironically the day after the sale, the website was back online and all the prices are regular MSRP prices, with no apology or explanation pertaining to the websites malfunction during the sale. |
