NobleSamurai.com marketsamurai.com Hacked my PayPal account and charged me $149 Victoria, Internet |

I received a courtesy phone call this morning from a customer service rep claiming he was from PayPal.com. He asked me if I had made a recent PayPal payment on my account. I stated that I hadn't since last month. I told him I did not want to give too much information to somebody claiming to be from PayPal over the phone, and he agreed that I shouldn't. He suggested log in to my PayPal account and change the password only. Then he provided me with the following details:
There was a charge for $149 on my account that didn't seem consistent with my purchases or was from a flagged vendor. I checked out the URL provided on the PayPal bill and it led me to /http://www.noblesamurai.com/, an Internet key word optimization site. I searched every page, including Terms of Use. I also checked the "Free Trial Version" link and it opened the new URL http://www.marketsamurai.com/. There is no contact information, e-mail, physical address, phone number on any page which immediately puts this in my world of scamming. It gives a list of people who work for this company and says that it is in Victoria, Australia so I would most likely not have redress through US consumer protection agencies for unauthorized billing on my account. I found a phone number on the PayPal transaction of +61 398779921 for which I attempted to call. The number has been changed or is no longer in service. There is an e-mail address on the PayPal transaction, as well, . I will not attempt to contact this company through e-mail because I do not want them to infect my email with viruses, etc. I have never interacted in any way with this company previously. I wanted to post a warning to potential victims of this company who may not be so fortunate as to receive a courtesy call from PayPal. Let's hope somebody catches up with them before they prey on too many unsuspecting victims with charges for $149. And as the man at PayPal suggested, it might be a good time to change our PayPal passwords.
