My 16 year old daughter was scouted at the cherry hill mall, within a few weeks we were bombarded with calls to get my daughter in for an audition, however we informed scout and rep that called that my daughters interest was dance, the assured us that they could help. We go in for her "audition" which they claimed they would work with with her. Miss Mecca; the represenative, talking a mile a minute, gave us the spiel about the company. At the end of her spiel she showed us a scrapbook of prior clients who are supposedly currently working, and left the room when she returned she then told me that my daughter was chosen and she would need $1500.00 to do the photo shoot today. I explained to Miss Mecca that i did not have that kind of money and would need time to get that amount of money, since i had a trip already planned to go to Texas in two weeks to meet and greet with my niece, who had finished a tour in Iraq (US. Army)., and i would consult with her after the trip. Her pushy attitude got even more pushy. Miss Mecca, then went on to say why would i put my daughter's future on hold when she could be working by the time we returned from Texas. She had my daughter excited and anxious to get things going, but at the same time had my daughter feeling like i was holding up her back from an opportunity that would have her working in the business within the next two weeks. I explained that i'm very supportive of my daughter, but did not have that kind of money, she left the room and came back and said she could get her in for a photo shoot within the next half hour if i could come up with $500.00 today, I told her that i could not and she then made an offer of $300.00 which i reluctantly agreed to. I then asked if any other moneys had to be paid after this, and she assured me that the only other payment would be $45 for ownership of the photos, but would talk about that later. We were sent back to the front lobby to wait to be called to makeup and photo shoot. after the shoot we were scheduled to come back in two weeks to view the photos. On our way home which was about an hour away, my daughter was so upset with me about my line of questioning to Miss Mecca regarding fees and how Nijah development made their money. She felt that i was not supporting her, however she also felt that they were more interested in me and how i talked, than her, and to be honest so did i. Mecca just kept going on and on about how i kept referring to them as as "you guys". On our second visit, to view the photos. We were escorted to an office in the back where a dvd player was set up for us to view all the poses from the shoot. and then we were sent across the hall to another office where we went through the photos with another represenative; "Isabel". she explained that we could choose our favorites but she had the final say of which ones were chosen after we agreed what photos would be used, she went into her spiel, about another $1500.00 for them to post the photos online and that at least 100 composite cards needed to be purchased plus the $45.00 for ownership of the photos. I go on to tell "Issy" that Miss Mecca told me the only other money that i would have to come up with was the $45.00 for ownership rights, she explained that was the first part of a three step process that didn't get explained until the second part of the process.I asked to speak with Miss Mecca, but was told she was not in today. Issy and i go on talking about her and her children, said she had two that she has no time for. where she was from; said she was from Haiti and thats where her children were, she went on to say that she usually works in the New York office. And how she was stuck in traffic that morning trying to get from NY to Huntingdon valley, stated how much she hated being here and that she has a home in Haiti. Issy goes on to tell me that she has maids in Haiti and does not lift a finger to do anything. she tells me she really likes us, so she is going to cut the fee for the photos down to $300.00, so i give her the cash. she also tells me that we cannot register the photos online with their site for another two weeks and if we have any problems to call and request to speak to her in the New York office. I have not heard from Nijah development until Friday October 14, 2011. They were calling to see if we had registered the photos from the shoot, i informed them that we had and if this call was pertaining to any possibilitie of work for my daughter, they said i would have to call back on monday to speak to Dawn because she did not know. I call on monday, spoke to a Josie, she tried to look me up in the computer and could not find me or why i was told to call back to speak to Dawn so she transfers me to a guy who couldnt help me either. He transfers me back to Josie who explains that Dawn is on another call and will leave her a message to give me a call back. I inform them of my knowledge of the company being a scam and if and when Dawn returns my call will she be explaining this. They tell me they will pass the message on....I have not recieved a return call as of yet.
