I have been looking for a female dog to train as a service for myself I am involved with a veterans agency that provides the tools and training needed. I searched for the perfect dog for this and finally found the Shiloh Shepherd known for intelligence and personality. I thought that if I contacted the daughter of the originator of the breed I could get the perfect dog. I wrote emails and got a reply that she had a 5 month old female that would be perfect for my needs. I have PTSD and epilepsy and need a dog that can help me calm down and go out in public as I have been a shut in for almost 10 years that doesn't mean I am afraid to go out but I don't deal with people well at all however, if I have a dog with me I can be very friendly. Lisa told me that Star was perfect for this as she already showed sign that she can tell if someone is ill. We settled on a price for her and she was supposed to be in great health so I went to see her with my other dogs for a meet and greet. Star seemed to perfect as she was loving us up and my dogs and a cat that was there great. I took her home and then the trouble started she was now 7 months old and I noticed that when going down stairs she would not use her left leg so I had her x-rayed and found she has mild hip dysplasia that causes her pain. My vet thinks that it won't become a serious problem until she is about 6 years old. I took her to meet the people that will help train me and her as a service dog and she showed resource guarding which means nothing was allowed near me. I contacted Lisa about this and brought Star back to her for an exchange but that is not what happened Stars sire was there and he is supposed to be the top Shiloh service dog in the country. If my dog showed this problem and has hip dysplasia then he can't stud his dog out anymore so with everyone against me and the x-ray there I was the only one that could the smaller ball in the joint of the left leg I even left it for her vet but I was told that the Shiloh shows a slight fearfulness when young and that many have this hip problem and it will go away by the time she is 3 however the contract for a replacement ends when she reaches 2. Star always had loose stool ever since I brought her home and then Cornell checked and found she had Giardia a flagellate single celled parasite in her intestines and it is also transferrable to humans so I had to treat 4 dogs and two humans for this illness. I am a Viet Nam era vet with PTSD and Epilepsy and was guaranteed a good dog and over the phone she stated that if Star didn't work out she would replace her with another female. That is the biggest problem that she gave me a verbal guarantee and not in writing. The contract I signed as I understood it also gave me the right to exchange the dog if she didn't work out, and I took her at her word also the state department of agriculture also states that the dog must be healthy and that the breeder should or is supposed to replace the dog or refund the money. So at this time I am without my service dog and she is not being trained because she fears her own shadow. Her personality is such that she feeds off any other animal she is around if it well balanced she is not aggressive but she won't allow anyone other than me or my partner Ida to touch her if she is near an aggressive dog she can become the same way. The biggest problem is her feeding off of my emotions when I am anxious or angry she becomes the same and that is not what I need her to do. She is supposed to distract me from my emotions and should be able to distract me with a touch and not become a shivering mess. I feel I was ripped off by Lisa Barber because it would have cost her friend money if he could no longer stud his male and she would lose money if she had to reimburse me the $750 I paid for Star but now it would be much more as there is x-ray fees , vet bills for giardia and medications for 6 amounting to almost $2000 that I feel she should reimburse me for. Lisa knew that I had just lost my beloved female german shepherd to bi-lateral hip dysplasia and did not want to go through that again and now I will be going through that again as I already know Star has hip dysplasia. |

I was scammed by Lisa Barber who operates New Zion Shilohs out of Fillmore, NY. She told me in August 2013 that if I sent a $400 deposit that would put a hold on a puppy out of an upcoming liter. I sent my application along with the check which she immediately cashed upon receipt. That basically is the end of my story as she never answered any e-mails, phone calls, text messages or a certified letter inquiring about a puppy or returning our $400. She was getting married that same month so we are just left to assume she used our $400 for our wedding. Stay clear of her business. Who knows how many other deposits she took from people and quit communication. |
