National Hole-in-One Association I hit a hole in one, with witness, at a sponsored event and have not been paid yet. It has been 5 months. Richardso

I played in a golf tournament on June 7, 2011 at Eaglebrooke Golf Club in Lakeland, FL. The tournament had an unusual format in that all the holes were set up as par 3's. Each hole had a money prize if you hit a hole in one. I teed up at the 15th hole, hit my shot, and against all odds - the ball went in the hole. The foursome I was with went nuts, we took pictures of the ball in the hole, and of me pulling the ball out of the hole, etc. What a great day, and a great PR opportunity for a tournament that was raising money for a local association, research, etc. The prize on the 15th hole was $5,000. Lots of back slapping, drinking, and promises to return to the event ensued. Well, here it is five months later, and I haven't seen a cent. The company had all players in the group fill out an affidavit, give verbal accounts, and submit to verbal questioning. Apparently there was a difference in description of the shot - one person said it went up in the air, while another said it went straight. The National Hole in One Insurance company has apparently taken this as an opportunity to dispute the validity of the shot. They dragged their feet on processing the paperwork for about a month after the initial interviews, but all seemed to be moving along OK right up until they decided to require a polygraph test of one of my playing partners. This test requires 2 hours of time during the week, and as any working person knows, it is difficult to find 2 hours of extra time to do anything. This request occured about 2 months ago - I can't fault the guy who played with me - so I called the insurance company to volunteer to do the test myself. I told them to set it up and I would be there. This was 3 weeks ago, and I haven't heard anything from them since. All this from a company that claims on their website that prizes $5,000 and under DO NOT REQUIRE A WITNESS! I am at my wits end with this company, and its claims adjustor - Brad Jenney. I have done nothing but cooperate with their demands to no end. If it is not settled by the end of this month, I plan to seek counsel and take them to court! I am in the golf business, and work with many general mangers who regularly have these type of tournaments with hole in one prizes. You can be sure that I will take every opportunity to tell them this story, and ask them how their members/guests would feel about this happening to them - and if they would want to come back to play in their tournaments again.
