Mr. Tire Monro Muffler Brake Inc. Was told I could not get tires as advertised and they wanted to replace parts that were not bad. Frederick, Maryland |

I took 2 tires to Mr. Tire in Frederick, Maryland on 8/13/11. I presented to the clerk Tom a advertisment for Goodyear Wrangler tires that I printed from their corporate website and I selected the Frederick, Maryland store for the correct pricing. Those tires were advertised for $109 each on the rim and out the door. The clerk Tom said he could not give me that price because that price is if you buy all 4 tires. Tom said the tires were $121.99 and then he whispered but I can give them to you for $115.99. He said that if I bring my vehicle in and get the other 2 tires he would adjust the price to reflect the advertised price of $109.00. They replaced just those 2 tires that day for a total of $247.50. On 8/27/11 I drove my vehicle to the same Mr. Tire to have the 2 front tires replaced and I spoke to the same clerk Tom. Again I presented the same advertisment for the tires and asked for an alignment also. This time I was given the $109 price for the tires but I was not compensated for the difference of the other 2 tires. Short time later I got a call from a clerk named Drew. He said that I needed a pitman arm and a idler arm. The tires, alignment and parts would cost $900. When I said that was too much Drew said they could use cheaper parts and that would lower the cost to $700. I told Drew just do the 2 tires and alignment. He kept asking me if I do any of the work myself. Sounded to me like he was fishing. When I picked up my vehicle at Mr. Tire the clerk Drew again asked if I do any of the work myself. Drew said that the alignment was done as best as they can without replacing the pitman arm and idler arm but they did not give me the results of the alignment. The total for these 2 tires and alignment was $318.81. When I drove away my steering was still off so I drove to Merchants Tire for an alignment. I did not tell Merchants Tire anything. They performed an alignment and the results showed the front rigt toe was off -35 and the front right was off +35 and the only thing they found wrong were the lower ball joints were worn which I already knew. I went back to MR. Tire with the results only to hear the clerk Drew making excuses. I also pointed out to Drew the list of things on the Mr. Tire receipt that the mechanic said need to be replaced totaling $1935.99. Some of the parts I had replaced less than 200 mile ago. I asked for a refund of $75.95 for the alignment since it wasnt done or done correctly. Drew obliged and refunded the $75.95. These guys do not want customers to just bring in the tires, they want you to bring in the vehicle so they can try to sell you parts that you dont need. |
