I had to move our home from ON to QC, after looking around I submitted my info on a couple of websites. Not sure from where this company (Mr Moving) got my info emailed me with a quote, which looked pretty good. After a round of emails it seemed like a pretty efficient and cost-effective service. They have a website as well which looked ok and provided office address and the cell phone number as the contact information (FIRST RED FLAG). Since the quote was impressive and the email communication was nice I decided to go with this company. This brought us to the stage where we were negotiating time and all that. The guy I was talking to (TONY, not sure if its his real name) asked me to send $200 through email money transfer (SECOND RED FLAG). I asked him to let me come to his office and make the payment, the answer was a flat NO (THIRD RED FLAG). In the meanwhile I talked a few friend and family members and they mentioned hearing scams from moving companies where they take the advance and dont show up at all or try to delay the shipping. Hearing this I wrote back to this guy requesting that I wanted to visit his office and want a proper receipt on his company's letterhead. I got a call back next morning and this guy started with a really harsh tone, saying things like 'You dont trust me', 'Its only a matter of 200 dollars', I kept my cool and told him he would do the same if in my shoes. I cannot throw away my money for nothing but he wasnt willing to listen, kept arguing that this is how he's been doing business and I'm the first one not trusting him and all that. I tried making him call but mannnnnnnnn he was flared up like anything, and started abusing me all those F words. I wish I could replied in the same tone but luckily I didnt. Frankly, I will request all of you to beware of such thhugs, though he didnt ripped me off financially but atleast his tone and abusive langugage proved something was fishy there. If you're a legitimate business you wont avoid ppl coming to your office and paying in person. Please keep an eye for such red flags when doing business with moving companies |
