We are seeking a full refund of the cost of a wood-pellet-burning stove, venting, tax, and labor as well as the cost of an optional remote thermostat.
1)Without our knowledge the stove was sold to us with a mismatched control panel and circuit board. I discovered that the control panel is from an older version of this model and the circuit board appears to be from a newer version. Since the owner has not returned calls or relayed any information through other employees about this issue, we don't know if the stove was altered by the store or if it came to them this way.
This makes concered that the stove may have other mismatched or defective parts potentially resulting in future problems. Either way, stove is not what was represented prior to sale and what we believed we were purchasing.
2) Thermostat option never worked. Thermostat was represented as able to function with stove but does not.
3) Store has not offered or attempted to service thermostat or stove, other than at a base cost of $240 despite the apparent root of the problem in the hardware, nor offered any explanation for mismatched parts. Store suggested trying repair myself, and pointed me to online intructions. I tried to follow them which resulted in fuse blowing and stove not functioning at all. Soon after I looked at a couple of different online manuals and saw that the control panel and circuit board were mismatched. Before I discovered the mismatched parts, I requested that the store simply return the stove to working condition, and no one from the store contacted me. Two messages asking for contact from the owner have gone unanswered including one by voice mail and a second left with a live person and pointing out the mismatched parts.
A full refund will allow us to select and purchase another stove that is constructed and functions properly, without the concern of other unseen problems presenting themselves with regard to this particular unit, which was either constructed improperly or altered prior to its installation in our home.
