Monro Muffler Brake and Service Kept my car 2 weeks, charged me 2000.00, car died on the way home Rochester, New York
12th of Dec, 2011 by User654242
I brought my car to a Monro shop as it was running very rough. The mechanics could not figure out the issue and kept it for nearly 2 weeks. During these two weeks, I had to rent a car as I needed to get to work and back. I also use the car to travel to and help care for my father who is in a wheelchair and cannot speak any longer. To further complicate the issue, since the car was running poorly, I had to leave it 4 hours from where I lived. So.. I had to travel to the location 2 times. One weekend thinking it would be fixed, the other weekend when it was "fixed". It was a very expensive fix, but I was stuck and paid the bill and drove away. Something was not quite right, but the mechanic had told me it was going to run a bit rough until the computer reset itself. I started my 250 mile journey home. The car was still misfiring and on top of that, it began to stall on me and the engine was rattling. A call to the mechanic telling him things were not right resulted in him repeating the computer was still learning. I wanted him to look at it but he was not interested and told me he might get to it the next day, if he could. He also added the car was running fine and he didnt think there was anything he could do for it. After all the computer was still learning. A long and cold NYS winter babying my car to a safe location ensued. What a horrible night. It was hard to keep it running and a number of times, I was not able to. I managed to wait enough time to get it started between stalling on me. Last time, I literally pulled into the driveway and the engine quit. This time I was not able to restart. I guess I had some luck left as if it would not have restarted on the road I was really stuck.

Monday morning I had some choice words for Monro customer service. I was assured the district manager would call me back. He/She did not of course. The mechanic called me and asked me what was going on and I told him the car was running worse than when I brought it in. Bottom line.. I paid a good sum of money to have my car repaired. I waited 2 weeks, had to rent a car at my expense. The district manager didnt even have the courtesy to call me to discuss the situation.

My car is now at another Monro location waiting to be looked at and I still do not have a car. They... "Will get to it once we have time". Thanks Monro. You totally screwed this one up. I am gearing up for small claims on this to recoup my losses. Enough is enough.
