charging for representation!? |

First off let's start with the basics. I'm a 17 year old female in the seattle area. I currently reside in the downtown area but I'm origionally from yakima, wa. Back when I lived there I heard MPI was having model auditions in the hotel down the street. Thinking this was my chance I rushed over there on a SCHOOL DAY mind you, had no idea that I would be one of the few to get in but I found out the next day when they called that I needed a "modeling class" and they needed me to pay $500 for that on top of $200-$300 for a professional portfolio. I'm not some dumb kid thats just going to fork over 500 bucks for something that makes no sense. Agencies that are legitimate NEVER charge you for representation or for anything you might need to be sucessful. And why should they? They make their money by booking you so I looked into their BBB rating? That a1 rating crap means nothing. everyone starts off with that rating and it takes multiple complaints to bring it down. I will be a sucessful model. But I'm not going to waste my time or spend thousands worrying over a scam. I've learned a lesson now not to just trust anyone with an honest demeanor. Even scam artists can look genuine. Please don't fall for this like I almost did. If you don't trust the comments from an adult then take it from a teens perspective. |

Thank you for the information> they are very obviously a scam. it is true that NO legitimate agency would charge you money. I happen to know many people who work in the film industry and they have given me some advice.
I just got an email for my daughter to do some interview thing at the heathman Hotel her ein Portland but I won't go. |

Hey My daughter and I got approached at a mall and I asked is they charged a fee or classes or portfolios and the Gal said they don't. I gave her my number and she called, to set up an appointment again I asked about charges which she said there is none, they only take a commision when you are booked. Don't know what to believe? Did they tell you the same thing? |
