On Tuesday, May 17th around 1:30 pm two African American males around the ages of 35 and 28, one heavy set and the other tall and slender built, came into a residential neighbor hood in the North end of Vidor, Texas. They knocked on my elderly Mother's door and offered her packages of meat from a freezer in the back of their truck. The five packages of meat ended up costing her 335.00 in which she wrote a check to a Mage McMillion III who signed the check and cashed it the same day. He did not leave a business card or a number to contact the business if there is an issue. She told me about the meat and I was disappointed in the price. I looked at the boxes and realized that the dates on the boxes were expired in January. I am trying to get some information on this company so that they will not rip someone else who is elderly or otherwise unsuspecting off. The company on the box says Midwestern Brand Packaged in Illinois. I am not intending on cooking and eating this meat. My mother is a very sweet woman who is too trusting at times. I believe that these people target the elderly and take their hard earned social security checks.

I had the same thing happen to me. I pulled into a local gas station her in South Carolina. There were 2 white guys in a raggedy truck with a freezer in the bed of the truck. As I was pulling in I saw them selling stuff to a few people. I went inside and bought what I stopped for. On the way out, the guys were in their truck about to pull off and I asked them what they were selling. They quickly hopped out and opened the freezer and started pulling out boxes of "Midwestern Brand" steaks "Packaged in Illinois". In the area I live in it is common for decent folks to sell stuff in this manner, mostly because I live 10 miles from Myrtle Beach. Well the guys were trying to sell me around 4 or 5 boxes of filet mignon, ribeyes, etc. for about $200. I was like, whoa guy I don't have that kind of cash on me. They said they could accept checks or credit cards, yeah right. I told them I had $20 only. They sold me a box of ribeyes. I went home and pan fried to of them hard just in case. The meat tasted rubbery. Later I saw a sticker that said 7/6 on it. I assume it was the expiration date. almost 4 months past. Luckily I didn't get sick.

I have puchased Midwestern Brand for 4 years and I have never had a complaint. The meat is better than what i can purchase from the restaurant. YOU did not ask for a reciept, YOU did not ask for contact info, and YOU bought the story from a couple of hustlers. Midwestern Brand has very good product and im proud to say i will continue to purchase from them. Both of YOU should be beaten with a stick and maybe the stupidy will subside. |

Yep, I fell for it too. Two guys with a story: "hey man, can you help me out? Our meat truck broke down and I have to sell this meat. I can give you a discount, because we have to sell it." The expireation date was nearly 2yrs old. frozen the entire time I'm sure. I did try it. Cooked up the old meat, ate it and survived the meat but not the ridicule from my wife. |
