Midas Auto Service Experts: Kissimmee, FL 301 W Vine St, Kissimmee, FL 34741 After three trips and big $$$ to Midas, car still has SAME PROBLEM. Elderly people BEWARE!!! - Dec 1, 2008. They charged elderly lady for repairs that she didn't want and cost more than her car was worth!!!! 65 year old lady has a 1993 Toyota Corolla that was stalling and shutting off while driving. Towed it to Midas (nearest automobile repair shop) and ended paying an enormous $1380.00 for fuel pump, water pump, new radiator. Midas said that would fix all the problems with the car. After Midas finished and closed for the day, car stalls out on the way home with the SAME PROBLEM...stalling and shutting off while driving. Poor elderly lady, she just paid $1380 to Midas and the problem was not fixed. Obviously, the new fuel pump, new water pump, and new radiator - did not fix the car. Obviously, parts were replaced that were still working because car has the exact same problem. PLUS, they recommended to "replace parts" for $1380, which is more than twice as much as the cars is worth. Who knows why would anyone recommend to fix a car for more money than it is worth? Maybe because they earn a commission or maybe to meet their sales quota? Maybe they enjoy taking money from sweet old ladies during the holidays?? Towed car back into Midas they determined problem was due to faulty engine relay. Waited one day for part and took Midas approximately, 5 minutes to install. Car did not shut off at shop and shop got a discount from the dealer for the part. Drove car and it sputtered, threw it in Neutral and prayed. Next day, going to Walmart, car ran for 5 minutes and stalled out (shut off). Re-started it and drove 50 feet and car stalled out. Re-started it and drove 20 feet and car shut off. Re-started it and drove less. With the engine off and transmission in neutral...glided into a parking space where car sits. Midas closed on Sunday. Complained to Mgr and informed him that car still has the original problem and he did not fix car and they charged little old lady $1380 for a car that has original problem. Mgr says the parts they replaced are working fine and that's a guarantee, but we need to bring car back so they can fix the problem. Plus, I need to stop interrupting when HE is talking and I should come down and talk "face to face". (Sounds aggressive and like he wants a confrontation) Now, I am afraid, so seeking assisting from Better Business Bureau, Midas Corporate office, State of Florida - Dept of Business - Auto Complaints, and Orlando Newspaper. Friends - beware of this place! Bottom line, elderly lady, who knows nothing about cars, trusted Midas, paid $1380 to Midas and car still has same problem. District manager said read the fine print!!! |
