Recently, I got a letter in the mail from some law firm [Linebarger, Goggan, Blair, and Sampson] claiming that i owed them appx $80 for delinquent parking citations. As I was 100% sure that I had not gotten any citations in the last few months, I threw out the notice. In my mail this morning, I got another notice. Curious that I might be getting scammed, I opened the letter to find that they claim I now owe $220 [this ludicrous increase is in the spread of about 10 days...]. Apparently, there was, indeed, a parking citation that I allegedly received, and since I had not paid it [because I never actually SAW it], I now have to pay additional fees related to my tag being "Invalidated". Basically, some uneducated trog parking attendant that needs to make quota saw my car somewhere, wrote a ticket to the tag, balled it up and threw it out, and left me with the additional "Tax" to pay one way or another. I'm sure this is a carefully orchestrated scam, because this is at least the tenth time I have gotten mysterious parking citations for places I have never been, rules that appear to be made up on the spot [did you know that you can get a parking citation for having a bicycle rack on your car? yeah, i didnt either], clearly displayed parking passes that were "missed", or, in the most enraging circumstance, parking citations every day for about 6 months because I displayed a parking decal in a clear bag 8 inches from the windsheild since the decal would not stick to the lexan windsheild on my motorcycle. Please, if there are any others out there that have gotten phantom tickets, make your situation known. I am literally going broke trying to keep up with the extra taxes that the local scumbags feel they are entitled to levy on Miami Beach's residents. This is purely extortionate and it must stop. To the great folks over at Miami Beach parking and Linebarger, Goggan, Blair, and Sampson: Please, Please, Please, go and kill yourselves. Save honest, hard-working people from your incessant and devious scams. |
