About one year ago, a Transtech rep walked into my studio promising me should could save me lots of money on credit card processing. She looked at my statements and then offered me lower rates on everything except one item. She filled out paperwork using information from my current statement and then called her company to get verification on rates she was offering me. I had to accept or decline the offer while she was on the phone. I had no chance of looking at the contract but she said he had already explained everything. When I went to sign the contract, I told her my business partner wasn't in the office so I couldn't complete the contract without his signature. She told me that they didn't need my business partner's signature and that mine alone would work. Needless to say, my sales rep never came back and quit taking my phone calls. Our last conversation was her promising me to take care of this and for me not to worry, there would be no cancellation fee. I haven't heard from her since and she will NOT take my calls. Everytime I call the company, they tell me that they don't care what I was told, and that I should have read my contract or had my attorney look it over. When I spoke to customer service and told them about my rate changes, she was very rude and told me they can change rates anytime they want and I can't do anything about it because I should have read my contract. I understand that credit card charges may change but why should my statement fee or monthly minimum change when I have a contract?? I knew I might be going out of business in the next year or two and stressed to the rep that I didn't want to get into a situation where I would have any cancellation fees. She assured me several times (in front of my office manager) that there would be no fees, and if a fee would show up on my statement all I would need to do is have my bank send a letter showing that I was indeed out of business and cancelled all business accounts. My bank did this and when I called TMG to make sure my account was closed, I was told that they didn't care what my bank had to say, or that I was out of business. I owed them a $495 cancellation fee and if I didn't send it in within 10 days I would be turned over to First American for collection. This company and sales rep has done nothing but lie about their fees, and what it will really cost you to do business with them. If I am bound by this contract, why aren't they???The consumer is being ripped off and I can't believe that government agencies are allowing this. What ever happened to consumer protection??? I recommended this rep to a friend and she is having the same problems! How do we do a class action suit against TMG?? This company should not be allowed to be in business!!!!!! |
