MerchSource LLC Discovery Kids Scam distributor for Discovery Kids Foothill Ranch, California |
30th of Dec, 2010 by User204974 |
I purchased a Discovery Kids Adventure Play Tent from my local JC Penny store for my 3 children for Christmas. Christmas night I set it up and both plastic tent poles broke in half, before I could get it fully assembled. It was lopsided and deformed and the children couldn't play in it as it could not even fully stand upright. I tried to contact MerchSource, the distributing company listed on the instructions, but their 800 number went straight to a busy tone. (This was Monday afer Christmas). I then went to the website to find it only listed a catalog of their items--there was no way I could contact themthrough the website. I found their physical address and phone number online, called it, and after listening to a recording which did not allow me to get to an operator or customer service agent, the recording hung up on me. I have repeatedly tried to call again all numbers to no avail. I then contacted Discovery Toys and their response wasthe same numberand email I already had. So I wrote them and informed them I would mail the piece of Chinese junk their company made and had distributed by the scam of a company MerchSource BACK to MerchSource and they could dispose of it. Do not buy this garbage for your child. Below is the letter I emailed in response to the stupid letter I received from Annie at Discovery Kids:
Dear Annie,
I have repeatedly called the 800 number you gave me in your email and it immediately goes to a busy signal. I then looked up MerchSource online and found a physical address and a phone number which does not allow me to speak to anyone or press any numbers to even get an operator. The local phone number is: 949-916-5698 (or 949-900-0900). Their listed email requires a login name and mscustomercare.com only lists their products; it has no way to contact them about a product. I realize the Discovery Store does not sell the Adventure Play Tent, but Discovery is still connected with this piece of garbage as a toy and I plan to make sure I never purchase anything that is in any way related to Discovery or MerchSource again. If I'm unable to reach anyone by email or phone, I plan to mail the tent and crappy poles directly to MerchSource in Foothill Ranch, CA and they can dispose of it. How disappointing that China makes toys for American children and then no one wants to take responsibility for the poor quality of the junk they produce. I plan to contact my local JC Penny as well, only to let them know they should no longer do business with your company or MerchSource. I do not want another of these pieces of Chinese trash--next time I will buy my 3 children an actual camping tent they can play in--and I'll be sure it's made in the USA. I'm sending this same email to the web address you gave me ( ) as well as to every business bureau with which Discovery and MerchSource are affiliated. Parents should be aware of the garbage Discovery is producing and outsourcing to China and then distributing through scam companies like MerchSource. |
