We have been customers of Mediacom since they formed a monopoly in our area, there isn't any alternatives other than satellite. We have had nothing but trouble, it seems like a monthly occurrence that we have to call into customer service and complain. Customer service is atrocious, a call that should take 5-10mins max usually ends up lasting an hour, and we usually have to call back numerous times. Now to the real problems, they switched to digital and I thought cool, since they advertised that they would give out free digital adapters to their customers. Low and behold, the greed of this company never ceases to amaze me, they REFUSED to give us our free digital adapters. Now I'm forced to buy the ones I need even though they stated that they were free. I've missed alot of great football games thanks to these guys, even though we still PAY for CABLE TV since we're locked into a contract, but can't watch ANY cable channels because they REFUSE to give us our adapters. Another problem, is the internet. The connection is very unstable at select times, resulting in frustration and dreading having to call customer support again and hear some uneducated response that has nothing to do with the issue. Majority of the time though the connection is ok, but tends to lag a little but its tolerable. When it does become unstable though, this connection feels worse than dialup, takes around 5 minutes to load a page and sometimes doesn't even connect. It usually goes on like this for 1-6 hours, which is retarded and deserves compensation when it happens. I hope someday they shape up and build a friendlier, and more dependable company than what we've seen. Though I doubt this will ever happen, they've been here for awhile and the same problems come up and I'm almost to the point of ripping out my hair over them refusing me a digital adapter. Sadly, its the only company that provides cable in our area so I'll grit my teeth and warn those of you that if this company settles down near you. Expect the worse, and prepare for it.
