mediacom 10-30% of the promised internet connections speeds Greenfield, Missouri |
30th of Jan, 2011 by |
On and off for the past couple of years
I have had issues. Typically these issues last 2-4 days and are fixed. Until
now. Currently I am paying for a 20meg download and 2meg upload connection. I
am getting speeds of 2meg - 5meg (10%-30% of what I am paying for, 20meg)
download speeds on a regular basis. Ping times
are anywhere from 2-5 times higher than normal. This has been going on for the
past 8 days.
Mediacom claims that it is a utilization issue
even though it is happening at all hours of the day and night. I've tested my
speed of connection (speakeasy.net/speedtest and speedtest.net) several times
during all hours of the day. Does not matter if it is 1am or 1pm or 6am or 6pm.
The speeds are consistently between 2meg and 5meg download. Throughout this
they have continued to give me the run around about maintenance being
scheduled, then completed. After being told that the issue is still there I
have been told they are going to complete another maintenance but can not give
me a time frame as to when this is going to be finished. I have had tech support out to my house and
they are unable to figure out the problem. I have had their customer service
hang up on me, call me a liar, wait for 25+ minutes to speak to someone, been
told that it is my computer as it must have a virus on it, that it is my modem
(I am on my fourth or fifth modem I believe). You name it, they have done it to
me.
They, Mediacom, refuse to accept responsibility
for this problem. They continue to bill me full price. If I refuse to pay my
bill due to the lack of promised service they will disconnect my service. If there is another internet service available
in your area, use it. Medicacom, at this time, can not provide you with what
they promise. You would be better off going with DSL as to purchasing service
from Mediacom. Stay away from Mediacom!
