Mayan Palace (Vida Vacation Club) Equity Trade-In NOT what it seems Cancun, Internet |
10th of Dec, 2011 by User161453 |
We attended a time share presentation at Mayan Palace 27th September 2011, was supposed to be 90 minutes, lasted 8 hours! We were persuaded to trade in out two existing time shares and upgrade to theirs. When we arrived home in the first week we had two phone calls asking if we still want to keep our original time shares we said no, we do not want three! that is why we signed the contract, to be traded in. I had an email on 11th November from Travel Around the World (company that works for Vida Vacations) first duplicity as we thought it was the same company! As we are from UK I had various questions that I needed answers to. No reply from numerous emails and several telephone calls. Alarm bells start to ring. On 2nd December I had another email from TATW saying they were cancelling the trade-in agreement, but purchase at Mayan Palace could still go ahead. I contacted customer Services Carlos at Mayan Palace, who contacted TATW, as we said we wanted to cancel, as the terms of the contract had been broken by them. Carlos said we could cancel but we would lose our deposit of $4118.00 plus another $600 cash, and we had already made the first payment of £194.04. I do not believe they had any intention of completing the trade-in agreement, and all this would have meant is more wasted fees and money, so due to all the bad comments on the internet about this company we have cancelled, and will fight to get our deposit back. |

The resort itself seems very nice, the sales pitch, however, is pure high-pressure sales. The sales people are snakes, their only motive is greed. They have no concern for what is ethical and will “brow beat” you to make their money. It was not worth the free breakfast and $50.00 dinner coupon. When I finally got up to walk away from the table, Luis got in my face and began to argue with me, telling me I couldn’t leave until he said the presentation was over. I continued to walk away as I raised my voice at him. You would think that that would be the end of it, but they will continue to pass you to the next person for a “survey” which turns into another sales pitch…these people are shameless. If you agree to attend the 90 minute presentation you will regret it.Search online for Mayan Palace Timeshare Scams for other “horror stories”:

On the surface, a Mayan Palace timeshare might look like an excellent value because one gets to share ownership of a property he or she might not otherwise have been able to afford alone. However, when all the payments, fees, and taxes are added up which must be paid toward their timeshares, they would have saved money by taking a traditional vacation instead.
