Market Force
Market Force will use illegitimate excuses to not pay you, Internet
10th of Apr, 2011 by User235364
Last week, Market Force rejected a McDonald's shop that I had done earlier this month. They claimed that I did not wait at the counter until I had all 3 of my food items. Before you start thinking, "Oh, she just didn't read instructions well enough and didn't follow the guidelines", let me explain the situation. I got in line easily, but from there, everything went downhill. I told the associate at the cash register that I wanted a McGriddle Value Meal, which consists of a McGriddle sandwich, drink, and hashbrown. He rung my order up and realized that there was no cash drawer in the register, which caused needless delay. While he was getting that straightened out, I realized that he had only rung up the McGriddle sandwich and not the Value Meal. I told an associate this, and they gave me my drink cup. Soon after this, my McGriddle sandwich arrived on a tray and I let it set on the counter as I waited for the hashbrown. The counter was crowded with customers, so I stepped to the side; however, I REMAINED at the counter the ENTIRE TIME because I was very aware of the guideline that shoppers must NOT leave the counter until they had all 3 of our items. So I waited and waited a ridiculous amount of time for my hashbrown to come up. A different employ had actually noticed me waiting the entire time and asked me if I needed help. I just told her I was waiting for the hashbrown. Finally, after over 10 minutes of waiting at the counter, I recieved my hashbrown. By this time, my sandwich had been setting on that tray for forever and was probably no longer warm. Either way, I now officially had my sandwich, drink, and hashbrown--all 3 items! However, no one ever asked me to pay for the drink or hashbrown... I could have easily walked away from the counter without paying (and looking back on this, I probably should have just done this). I waited and waited even longer for someone to help me with paying for the drink and hashbrown. Finally, someone assisted me with this. I would say that my entire time at the counter had to have been over 15 minutes total, if not 20. Since the counter was so crowded and I had the hashbrown and drink cup in hand, I thought it would be easy to quickly set these items down at a table and grab my sandwich from the counter. Well, I do this. But when I return to the counter, my sandwich that I had recieved over 15 minutes ago was gone. So I had to wait even longer for a new sandwich to be made. Market Force is claiming that since I did not carry all 3 items away from the counter at once, I did not "have" them all. They are claiming that I did not "have" the sandwich. In truth, I waited patiently in order to get ALL 3 items, and in fact, the sandwich was the VERY FIRST item that was given to me! I invited them to take a look at the McDonald's video footage of my shop, as I know I did everything correctly. However, they keep responding to me with the same information (that I did not "have" all 3 items before leaving the counter) regardless of what perspective I give the situation. It really is like trying to communicate with a brick wall! You think it would be clear to them that if I was willing to wait nearly 20 minutes at the counter, I am VERY AWARE of this rule. That is not the issue. The issue seems to be that they are too lazy/stubborn/crooked/stupid to take the time to look at my individual case and give it the attention it deserves. This assignment was exceptional, and I really did go above and beyond to address all the unusual issues that popped up during the shop; you'd think Market Force would at least take the time to address my experience in context! If anything, I think I should be paid extra for the extra work that I did at this shop. I invested a good amount of time, money and patience on this difficult shop. And to add insult to injury, I am refused payment for (ironically) "not having all 3 items items before leaving the counter." I consciously did the EXACT opposite of what they claim, which frustrates me the most! I waited A LONG time so that I COULD have all 3 items before leaving the counter! In the end, I can't help but look at the big picture. The rule about making sure you have all 3 items before leaving the counter was set so that you are not jipping the associates of time; they want you to be ready as soon as the items are up. That is the purpose of this rule. However, they are using this rule beyond its original purpose--they are using it as an excuse not to pay me. My advice for those who are wanting to join Market Force--join it with a watchful eye and think like a crook so that you won't be shammed. It's nice to be enthusiastic, hard-working, detailed, and ethical, but honestly, Market Force doesn't give a crap about that.
