This is a copy of the report I filed with the BBB:
First, our move was contracted for July 27, 2010. The movers arrived two days later forcing me to be late for my contracted start date of employment! The owner, Simon, promised that his movers would be at my house by 6:00 a.m. so that we could be on the road at a reasonable time. He stated that if the movers were not there by 6:00 a.m., the move would be completely free. The movers showed up at 8:30 a.m. and of course the move was not free as promised. David, the supervisor, did give me a discount of $500. The movers were very professional and I had no complaints about them. However, the delivery of our items in Pittsburgh was a complete fiasco. First, our items remained on a truck in California for 9 days before it left for Pittsburgh. We had a TV that melted in the heat, and a lot of our furniture was damaged, broken, or destroyed upon arrival. When the truck arrived, it arrived with ONE DRIVER! No movers! The driver told me that he was NOT responsible for unloading the truck! Fortunately, my neighbors, my husband, and my children (all under the age of 10!), helped to unload the truck! We did not complete a proper inventory with the driver to make sure all items were delivered or in proper condition. The driver's advice to me was to hire someone out of a penny flyer to assemble our furniture. We had to assemble all our own furniture! I have filed numerous complaints but they have not done a thing to correct this. Customer's Desired Settlement - Posted: 09/13/2010 They are in complete breach of their delivery contract. They have promised to refund me upon return of the driver but that was over 2 weeks ago and I have not heard a word from anyone. The balance that was due upon delivery was $1900. This amount should be refunded to me. I also sent them numerous pictures of the items that were broken or destroyed. They have not responded to any of my emails regarding the replacement of these items! I have the contract and am ready to take this to a lawsuit. Company's Response - Posted: 10/15/2010 We performed the pick up and delivery according to the contract. The customer was notified of any delays if any and we have provided the customer the proper information to begin a claim for any damaged items. Customer has been given a generous discount and we have complied with our contract. Customer's Rebuttal - Posted: 10/25/2010 Dear Sir/Madam at the BBB:This response is completely unacceptable. They are in complete breach of their contract. The contract states very clearly that upon delivery of the items that Mainline Transportation will be responsible for the delivery AND assembly of all the items. Upon the day of delivery, there was only a driver present. He unloaded the entire truck (over 250 items) to my 12, 9, 8, and 7 year old children, husband and neighbor. He did not assemble ONE item nor take it to its proper room. Everything was stored in my front room for weeks until we had the time to assemble the items. This included beds and various furniture. We took numerous pictures of the unassembled furniture as well as all of the items that arrived damaged. This move cost us well over $6000!! The discount that we received off of the $6000 was as follows: $650 for them arriving two days later than what we had scheduled. Upon delivery, the driver gave me $250 to pay my neighbors and his sons for their help. We feel that the entire balance that was due upon delivery should be reimbursed to us which would be $2900. This company will continue to scam its customers and we are willing to contact a lawyer to pursue legal action against this company! Page 1
