The following is the contents of a Live Chat that I had with magicJack PLUS TODAY ON 03-01-2013, personal phone and account numbers have been "x" out: Please wait for a site operator to respond. You are now chatting with 'Joane' Your Issue ID for this chat is LTK554093943570X Joane: Hello, how may I help you? Nelson Donnell: Everytime I dial 207-724-xxxx, I get a magicJack message stating that if I want a conference line or a platform, to go to my.magicjack.com/prepaid. Why won't this magicjack connect to one of my associates number on the other side of my town in West Gardiner, Maine? Joane: That is the only phone number that you have called and have heard that message? Nelson Donnell: No, sometime it'll do it if I call other 207-724 number too. Joane: Please wait while I check that for you Joane: Thank you for waiting. Joane: The reason why you are able to hear that message is because you have called a phone number that was under a certain non-ILEC area calls, or any call wherein we incur a cost from another carrier. Joane: and as stated to the Terms of Service section 4. What Is Free and What is Not: Joane: We may require prepaid purchase and/or we may charge you for calls to conference lines, platforms and certain non-ILEC area calls, or any call wherein we incur a cost from another carrier. We may provide for a fee, premium prepaid services, which may be powered by YMAX Communications Corp. (YMAX), and may include some inbound, international, conference, platform and outbound calls that receive a recording and certain calls to non-ILEC areas, and the rates for those services will be governed by listed price lists or tariffs. Nelson Donnell: But this just started a couple of months ago, why's that? Joane: As per magicjack.com/faq Joane: Great majority of where you can call is free, including certain numbers in countries or areas outside the US. In some instances, you may be required to purchase prepaid minutes to call an International number or a conference line or where a recording is now playing. Nelson Donnell: But I'm not calling a conference number, I'm calling the guys home phone number. Joane: Yes, but, since you have heard that message and in order for you to call that phone number, you will need to purchase prepaid minutes. Nelson Donnell: I already renewed my account a couple of months ago, do you mean I have to purchase additional minutes over the 29.95 fee that I already paid? Joane: That only applies to the phone number that you have called and have heard that message. Nelson Donnell: But I've been calling that number for years with my magicJack phone, why the change now? Joane: I cannot give you the exact information for it, but, as stated to Terms of Service section 4. What Is Free and What is Not and you have agreed for it the time you have registered the device that We may require prepaid purchase and/or we may charge you for calls that is connected to conference lines, platforms and certain non-ILEC area calls, or any call wherein we incur a cost from another carrier. Nelson Donnell: Order Number TS2455xxxx is when I last renewed my account. Joane: Yes that is correct. Nelson Donnell: Well, since I didn't have this problem until recently in the past couple of months, I can only assume that magicJack has not come to term with the local phone company that takes care of the 207-724 exchanges (TDS), so I guess that's going to be the end of my business with magicJack and I'll make sure to tell everyone else of my experiences with magicJack. |
