Timeshare Scam and Fraud

On March 2, 2015 I attended a timeshare presentation in Cabo San Lucas in an office next to the Holiday Inn Express (just across from Costco). I was given the spiel that they would sell my two timeshares plus an additional $5,000.00 which I put on my credit card, in exchange for a fractural membership in the Punta Resorts (no such thing as Punta Resorts). They told me that Sotheby's Vacation Sales (renamed to Platinum of America) would hold my properties in escrow until they are sold. This is not the Sotheby's that everyone knows about. I was also told since I was one of the first 100 owners to the new resort being built behind Holiday Express in Cabo San Lucas, my maintenance fees would be waived for the life of the contract. I now realize it was all a scam. Once these people get your money they could care less about you. You end up not owning any fractional timeshare, they do not sell your properties, and most of what they tell you are lies. I have disputed this charge with my credit card company and hopefully I will be able to recoup the funds. I also called my timeshare companies, told them about the scam and requested that they do not transfer any deed or titles. I am not sure if anything can be done to stop these people, but if enough people report them to there credit card companies maybe VISA, MasterCard, AMEX, etc. can shut them down. Thanks to Tripadvisor (check their site for other rip-offs in Cabo San Lucas) for providing a platform to inform travelers of the scams going on in Mexico.
