Low Country Van Line Please do not use. Don't be fooled by the nice Sales Rep or Owner Internet
27th of Nov, 2011 by User520864
First, let me say, I am a real customer and lived this nightmare. Please do not use unless you have a lot of money to pay movers. This company really ripped me off. They were not my first choice or my choice at all but the Owner Anthony kept calling me at work and even at home on Thanksgiving night telling me to give them a chance. I asked what I was going to be charged and he said what did the sales rep quote you, I said $2000.00, He said that's what we will charge. I know phone estimates are not good and expected the move to be more but not 2 1/2 times what I was quoted. Here is the break down. When they arrive it was 3 men. The next thing I know a fourth one shows up. I was quote 3 men at 90.00 an hour and now I have 4 men that I have to pay for. I had 125 boxes of all sizes, 1 very large wall unit (which I told the sales rep) and about 35 other items. I left my cabinet, desk, office chair, lounge chair and some other things I told the rep I would be taking. I packed approx. 95 boxes myself using my supplies. The movers insisted that everything that goes on the truck had to be in boxes. They proceeded to pack. I had extra supplies and tape and they used that first before using any of their supplies. They put things in boxes that normal requires only a blanket wrap. They used their box to pack my TV and charge me for the box. I thought they are required to protect your belongings. They put my clothes in their boxes not mine and when I un-pack I found the put empty hanger in the box and that made them have to use more boxes. I was trying to watch but a little hard to do with 4 men. The empty hanger should have been put in the bottom of the boxes. It took 4 men 6 1/2 hours to move. When they were done the foreman gave me a price of approx $4300. I complained and here is the final cost he said I owed $1100.00 for packing supplier and he changed it to $810, $2205 for the movers hours, $720 for fuel surcharge and $165 for tolls. Total bill $3900. I asked him to call the owner and he immediately said you must not have packed anything. He also at this time tells me he is not the owner and could not do anything with the bill until he spoke to him. This is a lot of moving charges to go 247 miles.
