Love Your Floors Ron Hofer Ron Hofer is not trustworthy. He is dishonest. He does not do what his is paid to do. Vicksburg, Michigan |

Mr. Hofer was hired to install cement brick and engineered wood flooring for us in our condo. We were to move from Florida to Michigan in June, 2011. He measured and told us how much flooring and transition to order. We agreed on a price which was to cover removal of the existing flooring, leveling the slab, preppig and installing the underlayment and wood flooring, and the installation of the brick flooring as well as installing the transitions and the shoemolding in the entire condo. He was given a deposit on the job and promised us to do all the work and do it well. During the time he was working on our floors our adult children were keeping an eye on things for us. There were several days in a row when he did not show up to do any work, yet all his supplies were left in the condo. Several times he called us to question the quality of the work of other trades workers who were doing other jobs for us. Finally he called and stated that the job was done with the exception of one piece of transition, which I would need to order. He stated that he would install that piece just as soon as it came in. He then asked if I would pay him for the job, as he was in need. I did, against my better judgememt. When we arrived in Michigan a week or two later we found the floors had not been levelled, the shoemolding was not completed and the brick floors had been sealed without being swept. He had just sealed the dirt right in! I called him and he said he would come two days hense to install the final transition molding. I did not say anything about the unsatisfactory work. I was waiting to talk with him in person. He did not show up at the time he had committed to so I called him again and left a message. He did not return my call and I tried seven other times to reach him. I have had another flooring installer out and had the job finished. That installer told us the job Mr. Hofer did will not stand up due to the fact that the slab was not levelled adequatley. So now we have paid for the flooring, and the installation and will need to redo the entire thing within a few years! Do NOT hire this fellow. When he left here he left piles of grout in three places on the codo grounds, he left adhesive in our bathtub and the toilet was broken. There were cigarette ends scattered about, inside and outside. (None of the other tradesworkers we had smoked.) |
