Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson E-470 bogus Toll Violation |
Incorrect and vastly inflated violation charges |

On March 10 I paid a late payment for E-470 tolls. Later I learned that they received my payment the sae day my account went to collections. The law firm of Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson sent me a notice dated April 28 stating that my account was overdue and I owed additional payments. When I called I was told that even though I had paid the bill, it was already sent to collections and all new tolls were being charged through their collection agency. (And, by-the-way, they tacked on an additional $15 late fee. The only way to get my entire account (including new tolls) out of collections was to pay the total bill that they said I owed, including the $28 I had already paid. So I mailed them the check. And watched my mail for new bills so I could pay them on time and avoid additional charges.
I recieved a new bill from Linebarger et al dated July 14 for $616.00 for unpaid tolls and cicl penalties of $25 per toll. (Which adds up to $100 for each round trip to DIA.) No bills, and then a toll vioation notice and a $616 bill. I was pretty upset.
I verified all my information, made sure there were no bills fallen behind my desk, and then called the Linebarger, but hung up before talking to them.
Instead I called the E-470 customer service number (303) 537-3470, option 1--
because that is what the E-470 website says to do if you get a toll violation notice.
The customer service representative was very helpful and bottom line all penalties were waved and I only paid for my tolls. Problem solved. Though I did ask for an itemized statement of all my charges and all my payments to see make sure all my payments actually went to my account.
This is what happened: Once your account goes to the collection agency, E-470 stops sending bills. They don't send any--that's why I didn't get any. And Linebarger et al didn't send any either!!!!!!! They let the tolls pile up and then sent me a $616 bill--which included every single time I traveled to DIA up to June 3. These tolls weren't even late!
My advice is if you get anything from a collection agency for E-470, call the E-470 customer service number first. |
