Lindsay Cadillac Company
Lindsay Cadillac Company Backdated a Sales Contract, sold me a crappy car then blamed Honda. Alexandria, Virginia
31st of May, 2011 by User666854
I bought a 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid from Lindsay Cadillac in Alexandria, VA. While thinking the customer service would be stellar, behind the scenes was a different story. From the surface the car was a jewel, high gas prices plus a vehicle that runs off electricity = A great deal of money saved over the course of a year. Now heres when the dream turned into a nightmare, so the salesman that sold me the vehicle was named Matt Milici. He took me on a test drive and the car was fully functional of course I am not a mechanic so the car was checked by the dealership so I assume the car went though proper protocol to make sure the car matched the image of the dealership. Well if the image is rat black, then it was spot on. I met the financier named Kim Mosley who took care of getting the car financed, I noticed there were inconsistencies in the contract, first being the sales price, which was off by $3,000 dollars. So once he figured that out, it was changed and I signed to have all the extended warranty on the vehicle. Only 10 days after buying the car did I receive a phone call from Mr. Mosley. He explained the financing didnt come through for the extended warranty, so a new sales contract would have to be put together and extended warranty could be bought on the side. Sounded like a good idea, so I opted out to do that, only instead of the financing agent writing the date I returned which, was June 1st, Mosley backdated it with May 18th. Humm, now why would he right the wrong date? Well turns out he wouldve had to tell Wells Fargo to change the payment schedule and he didnt want to print out all the paperwork. His words not mine. So the payment schedule for 1st car payment stayed July 1st.No rewritten acknowledgement, clear violation of the single document rule. Which is illegal in VA. A few days after the second contract was signed I noticed a yellow IMA light coming off and then on in the dashboard. Mechanics from auto zone scanned the IMA code and yet nothing showed up as damaged so I kept on as business as usual, possibly thinking the car had a spark plug that was misfiring. So finally on September 6th after coming from the GYM, I activated the alarm on the car and went to bed. On Sept 7th the car was dead and I had the car towed to Pohanka Honda on St. Barnabas Road in MD. Well the mechanic found and aftermarket alarm and a Volvo battery in the vehicle. So he disconnected the alarm, put a new Honda battery in the vehicle and told me that the IMA light that kept popping off and on and said if it still occurred to bring it in for the IMA check. 3 days later the car left her stranded on the Naval base in DC. The same problem occurred with the car. I called the Honda technician who serviced her car, Nilson Rivera, he said Get a Jump and if you can make it here to the shop then we will conduct the test. The car was jumped the next morning (Sept 10th) by my friend the tow truck guy and I proceeded to Honda where the test took 2 hours to take place. Finally an answer. The IMA light that kept coming on belonged to the hybrid battery, which was used, old and simply on its last leg. The HONDA technician told me the car would work only if I got the car jumped everyday. That is a huge defect. So I made plans to talk to Lindsay Cadillac sales person, Matt Milici and his superior only before I could get there car turned off while I was making a turn into a gas station. So my mom had to pick me and we both went to the dealership. Then we met MARK OF EXCELLENCE AWARD WINNER, Barry Holiday, who was anything but professional. He was rude and dismissive. As I introduced myself and my mother he said, I already know who you are, whats the problem. I explained the car was in the middle of the highway and he jumped up and said, Let me get my tow guy to get that taken care of for you. 2 hours later the tow guy arrived at the dealership, the car stayed at Lindsay Cadillac for 3 days. Mr. Holiday then said call Mr. Penfield and plead your case with him. What a jacka**. Monday( September 13th) I called Mr. Penfield and he had no idea what was going on. Insulted me by saying perhaps next time it would be better for you to bring someone with you while your shopping for a car. I said Are you saying that I need a chaperone to make sure that none of your salesman are trying to get over on me. He said your putting words in my mouth, I said well sir, you know the car you sold me was a piece of junk I only made 2 car payments and now you want to be a smart a**, so I am going to talk to someone in legal and we can take it from there. I couldnt believe this guy, Lindsay Cadillac sold me a crap car and now they want to get an attitude with me for its faultiness.
