LERNKS FINANCIAL SERVICES USA Mega win Sydney NS, Canada
8th of Jul, 2011 by User693669
I received a letter containing a check for $4500 with a notice that I had won $450,000 as a second prize in the second category of USA Mega (under the international Sweepstake) draw held May 11, 2011. Serial number 9814676 attached to my name and matching winning numbers 10-28-33-38-45. I know that I did not enter any sweepstakes or lottery outside the US and I wonder how a foreign lottery can have the name USA Mega. I am supposed to make contact with my claims agent DONA JUNE at the given phone number to proceed with my claim. And the check is to be used to pay the non-resident tax of $4100 to my tax agent. I did notice that someone else was contacted by this company for a similar win and also filed a ripoff report. I am approaching 65 and receiving an increasing number of sugar coated entrapments in my US mail.

Ditto- My mom is 85 and got the same winnings. She is niave and thinks she won- SOmething needs to be done to make these mailings illegal- It is not fair to burden the elderly- They have enough worry to keep them busy!

My mom is 84 and just received the exact same letter. Her contact person was Oscar Williams and the $4, 850 chec was written on Citibank, N.A. ouir of New Castle, DE. Luckily, she was skepitcal enough to show it to me before making the call. When I googled the Lernks organization, I was not surprised at the results. I don't know what they are trying to acquire from their potential victims but someone needs to put a stop to them. Obviously, they are targeting the elderly.

I just received a notice from Lernks Financial Services that I have won $450, 000! Ha! If only!
Enclosed with the letter is a $4500 check from "McCormick" (McCormick what, pray tell?) in Chgo to pay "non-resident taxes"...non-resident of where??? Letter has no return address, but postage stamp says Portugal. It never says what Sweepstake precisely, but refers to "USA Mega", which is no sweepstakes I ever heard of. Looked very suspicious, so I looked on the internet and here I am. Apparently, I'm not the only "winner". I can only guess that the "non-resident tax" would be paid to the "claims agent" and then they would have my bank information on the back of the check and I'd never see the $450, 000, but they would see the inside of MY bank account. Well, not this old lady. I may be old, but I'm not stupid yet.
