Legacy Travel Travel scam with bait and switch and confrontational tactics King of Prussia, Pennsylvania |

We just had a very bad encounter with Legacy Travel. We had received a postcard stating that we had been selected to receive a 7 day/6 night cruise with airfare on Carnival. When we contacted the 800#, we were told that it was actually an 8 day/ 7 night with airfare. When we asked what it would cost us, we were told that it would only be $99 per person to cover port fees and taxes that Legacy Travel was not allowed to pay for by law. We then asked if we would need to purchase anything to receive the cruise/airfare. We were to no, that it was our gift for attending the 2 hour presentation. We then asked why Legacy Travel would give away free cruises and airfare. We were told that Legacy Travel was new to the area and felt that the best way to spend their advertising budget was to provide these "gifts" and that we would then maybe use them in the future for our travel needs, and tell others about our great experience. We sat through the 2 hour sales pitch by Kirk and then received a very hard sell by a representative, Theresa. We told her we would not be purchasing anything. She gave us a sheet with some "gifts", mostly 2 night hotel stays, for a cost. When we said this was not what we were promised, she said she picked up the wrong sheet and bought out another. This one did have a 7 day/6 night cruise and airfare. The cost was not $99. It was $99 per person for cruise fees, $495 per person for the cruise, $79 per person for the airfare fees and $249 per person for the airfare. When we complained that again this was not what we were told, she became defensive and asked us to step into the hallway. When we said we wouldn't step into the hallway, that we wanted to discuss this at her desk, she became confrontational. Needless to say we left, as did another couple. We have since filed a complaint with the Pennsylvania Attorneys General. I have been on 3 Carnival cruises but if they are associating themselves with a company like Legacy Travel, that appears to be a scam, I don't believe we would ever use Carnival again. |

Thanks for the info. Looks like they are targeting the San Diego, CA area. I called the 1800 number and was given the same story. I asked how we "won" the cruise, and they said we were the right demographic. I got off the phone when they told me about the presentation because it sounded fishy. Lame! |
